IMG_4580.jpg Looking for a little advice, not sure this is the best place, but figure someone else may have a story to learn from......

Anyways, it hailed like mad here today and now my truck looks like a kindergarten class went ape shit with ball peen hammers. There’s 15-20 quarter size dents and at least a couple hundred shallow dime sized dents all over. Hood, roof, quarter panels, bed, you name it. Passenger side is much cleaner than drivers. Dents are on body lines, the pillars. Either way I figure I’m screwed.

I hear some love PDR or paint less dent repair, but it’s not for me, nor is bondo.

The truck is a 6 month old (to me, build 05/16) with 5,800 miles. At this point, trying to figure out where the bad karma came from. Auto Insurance USAA. Yes, that’s a garage behind it, and I know the pics don’t show any damage, haven’t taken those yet.

Just out of curiosity, why is PDR not for you?

Minnesota? Got hit too, not as bad but it sucks. Filed a claim with insurance and gonna pony up the deductible. Guess I found out how I'd feel when it got its first dent today.

If your dents are in the hundreds I'd think filing a claim is all you got for an option.

I like car ports. It's hard to store junk in them so they stay open for protecting the vehicle.

USAA will have it fixed via PDR. You will never know anything happened to it. They wont total it. The other option would be panel replacement and repaint which will never really match. Sucks :(

PDR is the next best option besides totalling the truck for a new one lol. After market paint is a no-go.

JimBeam, I might create a. ****storm with this one, but I live in Minnesota. Anytime I have ever needed any type of work done to anything, it was half ass. I’ve only lived up here two years and the people are just different. They don’t give a crap. I’ve lived down south, Midwest, east coast, there’s a different breed up here. That’s the main reason I don’t trust PDR and the dents are so close together it doesn’t seem possible to remove them.

tacoflavoredkisses1 Just advice in general, has anyone else dealt with this type of situation. I could only pray they want to total the truck, I figure the insurance company will try to screw me somehow. Do I trust them and have them send out an appraiser, take it to a body shop of my choosing for an appraisal. They estimate excess of 100mil in damage in MN, the PDR guys will be busy as heck, and by the time they get to mine... is replacing body panels an option?

I'd file with ins and then if the repair isn't up to your standards...request it be fixed properly etc etc

Every time I read one of these, makes me glad I live in Seattle area. Everything's fucking wet all the time but at least the gods aren't throwing shit at my truck. Good luck with resolution.

On a side note, the Undercover ridgelander Tonneau on the back doesn’t have a single ding, and it’s aluminum. Much thicker, not an ad for Undercover, just surprised.

I just got back from Seattle, been out there a few times. Loved it, people actually drive like normal. 1mil more people than the dysfunctionaltopia I live in now.

Claims filed, deductible only $50, just want it done right. Maybe I can blame the lean on the hail too.
