Does diminished value apply to acts of God? Or vehicles already 8+ years old? Like his.

Yikes, repair on the roof??? Not that it can't be done, it's just one of those that shouldn't be done. If we were doing it or it was my truck that roof would be r&r. I don't see the need for excess product

Take it to a shop you trust for repairs. they will likely contact the insurance company for a supplement (if high enough, it may still total your truck).

That roof doesn't look repairable to me... but I never saw it in person either.

I'm in Indiana. Your truck is bad,we had a storm come through here 3yrs ago with hail damage just like your truck. Totaled a lot of older vehicles, but we repaired a bunch. Made ALOT of $ though.

Also, take into consideration that after your truck it's fixed , it will be worth less than a non fixed truck. When you want to sell it and they put a paint thickness gauge on your truck it will show a different thickness and the price will drop significantly once the realize that the whole truck was fixed.
It happened to me when I took my fixed car with 6,000 miles on it. The buy price was way low after they started reading the thickness of the paint on the panels.

So I got this response from Line-X:
Thank you for your interest in LINE-X, we can have your vehicle sprayed for around $5,000, that would include the body work to fill the dents so you will not have to replace any panels. Call me when you get a chance and i can explain more.

I see the "fill the dents" as bondo which I'm not a fan of. I would rather replace panels than going that route.

I got quotes to spray the inside of my cab for around 2-3 grand. Do it yourself. Seriously, it took me a weekend and saved me 3 grand, I'd say thats worth it. No peeling at all and it is wearing great inside and outside the truck.

Since it will be texturized bumps and dents are harder to see but still can be seen. Save the big bucks for mods or another truck. just my $.02

    EDIT I used monstaliner

Did you get the quote from a linex dealer/installer or a body shop that would get the linex done? Linex brand actually comes out and goes on so fast that they get a real heavy build quickly of they stay in one spot. If you're getting linex and you want the dents filled there should be no need to pay for body work on the dents first. That just defeats he purpose of linex.

Also curious, did you ask how much extra weight the product will add? Doing the whole vehicle will easily add a few hundred pounds. Probably not a big deal to you, but just something to make you aware of. And lastly I'm sure any licensed linex dealers are reputable and good at what they do, but be adamant that they take the time to prep it right before application. We just worked on a truck that had linex along the besides and we had to remove it for painting. Usually it's a little bit of work but this time it actually peeled back quite easily with a little bit of elbow grease. You could see where they scuffed it but it appeared as though they didn't clean it after and the dust underneath kind of hindered the adhesion a bit.

My quote was from a Line-X store. Currently looking into a Kevlar paint which is supposed to be amazing.

It always amazes me how much damage hail can do to a vehicle. I had hail damage in North Dakota during the spring from a Tornado that started to form. Pretty amazing stuff.

If it was me, and the truck is still mechanically doing well and you can keep it, just use it as your beater truck for hunting, yard work, lumber runs, etc. If insurance does give you money for it, just take it and either put it towards another vehicle or just save it.
