I'm not going to worry about it. It's just a truck...what the body shop is going to do to it isn't going to be any worse that what we do when we mod them. Half the people here are putting their headlights in a freaking oven and baking them so they can crack them open. I'll drive it until it's about to quit and get another one that's even better than this one! Shit, maybe we'll have anti-gravity trucks by then that run off solar...

That sucks! They should be able to PDR it. That happened to my mom's BMW a couple of years ago. She was at work and her car was out in the open in the parking lot. No where to go. $4k and 2 days of PDR later all the dents were gone.

Been there, done that. Had my new 2010 for 6 months when I got nailed. Here's my experience, recommendations...

They'll use paintless dent repair (PDR) on the side panels. It'll probably be cheaper for them to just replace the entire hood. The structural rails above the windows are a bitch to repair. They can't be PDR'd. They'll pull out each one as best they can, then apply a skin of bondo to smooth it out before a repaint. Two years out, mine still look new.

As for the roof ... because of the ridges, they can't do a proper PDR. They might tell you they want to bondo it. But my repair guy said that's the last think you want to do. Bondo works fine on the rails because they're so stiff. But the roof isn't, so a bondo job could cause all kinds of problems down the road.

Demand a new roof. It's actually pretty easy for them to do. The main welds are under the two weather strips across the top. Some people worry that if you cut the roof off, and weld a new one on, it'll never be as good as factory, and cause problems with rust down the road. But if it's a good shop, and they do good prep & paint work, you will never have a problem.

LOL. Not an option, unfortunately. Damage was around $6500 on my truck. But it's all good .. truck looks great. Having a great insurance agent, and great body shop helped immensely. Not much I could have done about it though. My wife & I actually had to go to Denver that day, and since I spot for the National Weather Service, I knew the forecast for the I-25 corridor was high potential for damaging hail. So we decided to leave the brand new truck at home in the mountains, where large hail is an extreme rare event, and take the old Subaru. Turned out it was our unlucky day. Home got hit with golf balls. Nobody had ever seen anything like it in the 100+ year history of the town. C'est la vie.

op, my truck has $3400 in damage from the same storm. unfortunately, insurance companies learned from the last hail storm and do not make a check out to you unless it is paid off. otherwise your name and the lienholder or body shop get put on the check. last time this happened to me, i cashed the check, paid cash for pdr, and pocketed the rest. i am going to do the same thing as you, fix it and drive it until it quits.

I am picking up my truck tomorrow. The hail also dented up my roll-n-lock so getting a new one of those this afternoon. I've got a small deductable so life isn't all that bad. I guess the crappiest thing is I'm driving an Impala rental and it SUCKS! I'll post some pics when I get it back. The body shop said they were going to take some pics for me with the top chopped off...huh, topless taco(toco porn).
