If there is a fall time or future version of this trip I’d love to be involved… just need to get the truck first!

We did this trip two years ago and just recently finished a Northern Maine trip that I put together. I'd like to try and do one of these each year and for the next one I was talking with my wife about doing something up in the Adirondacks. I might try a repeat of one of these next summer though, I'm not at all familiar with northern NY and will need some time for planning and recon.

That’s great, trips like these will be new to me but we’re a big component in my truck decision.

I’ve been wanting to get up there forever. Let me know!

We had 3 trucks in NMW last weekend. I got 1.5 flats, one other got 1. His could be patched, mine in the woods couldn’t. I say .5 because I noticed low pressure after I got home and it was a roofing nail. Wasn’t even from something fun! :(

What will you have for labor day weekend? We have a big trip up in the north maine woods that weekend. We’re looking at about 15 trucks/5 days right now. Let me know, we don’t charge but the north maine woods does have camping/land use fees.

I’ve got an 8/28 build date, so planning on nothing.

I’ve also got a 1 week old at home right now, so any immediate trip is … a death wish.

Not much to wheel in the Adk's unless you have access to private land. @adk_tacoma

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Yep, it's a doozy. I wrote up some notes on page 7 of this thread.

I once went camping nearby and google maps casually sent me down this road solo. Took us a while but we made it.

I was up in the Moosehead area this past week, Arrived Sunday with in 39 minutes the sky opened up and it poured. Got up to still rain Monday morning, decide to go into Grenville, notice tire pressure light was on, less than 20 miles of dirt road and I jabbed a rock in the tire.

good news, wife wants better tires than the stock crap.

Yeah - Saturday into the woods at Ashland (6 mile), should be doing the night at Ross lake. Then Sunday AM go to trains, and should be going to Round Pond for around mid-day for the night. Then out Monday PM toward Greenville/bomber. That’s like a 200 mile day o_O

I'm planning on doing a trip kinda similar to this this weekend. Is there any must see spots?

I am going to be in Vermont next weekend. My truck is stock but I have Destination AT/2's.
I was not aware you can drive up to Mt Ellen. This looks really cool.
Anything I need to know before I go there? I can just drive up there no questions asked or is there some kind of permit required?

See my post above about the section Ice Bed road or something.

Mt. Ellen - (1) don't do that one alone, it's JUST hairy enough I'd want to have a second set of hands in case you puncture or get stuck. (2) This "late" in the year, there's a chance they're doing ops to prep for the season, they weren't when we went (3) "I was not aware you can drive up to Mt. Ellen" - strictly speaking, not sure it was legal, just a heads up.

    Thanks!
I'm going to pass then as it's just going to be my wife and dog.
I'm new to all this so if you know some really basic trails, like maintained dirt roads near cool picnic spots in Vermont or western NH, etc, let me know please.
