I’ve got a 17 Tacoma SR5 that came with factory halogen running lights. I bought the Spyder headlights as a replacement and I can’t run them because my truck didn’t come Factory with LED running lights. Does anyone know of a harness or what wires I tap into in order to have the led capability of other Tacoma’s? I’m sure the wires are there, it’s just a matter of finding them

Welcome! Do you have a link to the lights you bought? Spyder does not list any headlights for 2016+. Maybe you mean Xtune?

I think Carid might have the brand mislabeled, unless they came in Spyder packaging?

Regardless, TacomaBeast says those lights won’t work in SR models.

The Retrofit source has a great collection of OEM light socket adapters. You could find one for your DRLs and build a custom harness that plugs into your OEM DRL and build something to connect it to the new lights.

I had to return them cause they aren’t made for SR5 or lower. You gotta have Factory led DRLS in order for all plugs to be used and have everything work right. Other than that though, they look awesome on the truck which makes it that much harder to send them back. If you already have LED DRLS I’d say go for it cause it’s awesome

Yes, I have an SR and have posted a brief explanation of what I did as well as a short YouTube video in the thread mentioned above. I got the white DRL ring to light up while the headlights are on, while the DRL switch on our SR/sr5 will illuminate the yellow ring, not the white ring. I actually like it better this way. The turns signals work beautifully

Cut the plug off the DRL on new housing, cut the plug from stock wire harness, spliced together. Did a wire tap off of the blue DRL wire, ran it to the brown wire of the fifth plug(also pulled that plug out and cut it), and did another wire tap on the black/white DRLwire and ran it to the blackwirecoming out of the fifth plug. Everything is already taped up, so you can't see my side ring but I try to explain what's going on

It seems like I could have if I was willing to cut the factory harness to shreds, but I had already sent them back by the time I got the video link so it's probably for the best. I more than likely would have burned the LEDs with faulty wiring anyway hahaha
