We'll know in a few weeks. Started pulling my engine bay apart to yank the engine out, I've been running the Haltech NA haha. I decided I don't want to try to wrestle the crossover pipe and drill/weld the -12AN bung to the oil pan while in the truck. Might as well make it all easy and yank the engine and do the clutch while I'm at it.

I'm getting a hair up my a$$ to twin charge for giggles (have the cx kit just sitting here) and the drama of the header removal and manifold install is stressing.

I think I'll just unbolt the front and cab body bolts and lift the cab a little to assist with the exhaust part of the install.

And then I plan on not using the cxracing intercooler setup but a in/out on same side setup much higher mounted like this guy's

    https://youtu.be/ogv-Re1zfKg

That or I found a vid of a cx kit guy that just installed the provided cooler higher, modified the piping.

Yeah lifting the cab is harder I think but it's certainly a way to do it if you don't wanna pull the engine. I'm not using a CX kit so i don't know what all is included in those. But I have a 95-97 front end so the space behind the grille is super limited, I decided to go with a water to air intercooler setup instead of snaking tons of 2.5" piping all over.

Gonna be hard enough fitting it all...

Already gonna be 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bag according to the mockup engine and bay pics.

Not a divorced wastegate setup. It's now tied in. Which I prefer for a more dd setup than a race car setup

Nice. I want to recerc myself. Or even a bock off if using a turbo with integral system.

Yeah be nice to use a BW turbo with internal one. Expensive turbo though.

It's nice to have the control of a real wastegate with top and bottom ports too though, then with the haltech you can run a super low spring pressure and it can basically control the whole thing itself. That's how I'm gonna build my 87 tune, crank down to 2 psi and actually have enough wastegate flow volume to bypass that much exhaust.

Reading my mind- would save me having to upgrade the wastegate + recirc fabbing. Plus, the bearing went out on the IS300 turbo so maybe I can put the truck kit's turbo on the IS (double check the specs) and have an exscuse I need another turbo.

Its pricey but high quality, and the wastegate AND bov are integrated. So I get money back from not:
    - wastegate upgrade
    - wastegate recirc fabbing
    - BOV upgrade
    - BOV recirc

    Its very tempting.

I believe the BW wastegate system is just as adjustable, in fact the boost control solenoid is included in the package.

But if you want to run just 2 psi for an 87 tune (I feel you man, one of the use-cases of my electric supercharger bypass mod) then I'm thinking you have to run a large external wastegate to ensure it can bypass enough exhaust to avoid creep.

I also recall some general rule of boost controller ratio- meaning if you have 2psi spring a controller can only crank up the boost a certain percentage over the spring's setting, so maybe you would be capped at 5psi. I'm googling crazy to find reference to this but can't seem to find anything solid- some forums say 70%, others say double the spring: https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/1036628-how-much-boost-can-you-do-5psi-7psi-spring.html

Yet others it seems like the sky is the limit, like a Honda forum (so maybe should be taken with a grain of salt) having 7 psi springs boost up into 23 psi. So... meh? Maybe its the size of the MBC/EBC internals...

Or fuck it, electronic wastegate- YOLO bud

    https://www.fueltech.net/products/electronic-wastegate

    https://www.turbosmart.com/news/turbosmart-releases-electronic-external-wastegate/

With the Greddy EMU there is a write up on using a 7th injector and mapping on a boost solenoid, but I think I'd get a designated electronic boost controller- something smart like turbosmart with gear and speed intputs (truck is open-diff).

That's why you need a large external wastegate and a 4 port MAC valve. You can go well over the spring pressure easily. Helps to have a Haltech with closed loop boost control too, so it can adjust duty cycle on the fly to attain the boost requested.

I think having a fairly large turbo for the application plus having the wastegate opening so early will keep it from creeping too easily.

I had one of those b&W turbos on my BMW along with electronic wastegate, while it's a really cool system, I got tired of replacing the diaphragms in the blow off recirc deal. And the electronic wastegate controllers are still crazy expensive along with the gates themselves. Pretty hard to fuck up the setup of a 4-port Mac valve and regular pneumatic wastegate by comparison.
