The Ham Radio Intro is back. Rocky Mountain Overland hosted this event last year, and we had a nice turnout of about 60 people. This year the event will be on Saturday morning, April 9th. For details on the location and registration, click here: http://backcountrycomms.com/#NaN

The event runs from 9am to roughly 11:30am. There will be three speakers presenting. The topics will range from answering the question "Why Ham" to APRS, which allows real time GPS transmissions via radio.

The event is not a sales pitch. There will be a few vendors in the parking lot, but the presenters are not pitching a product, and do not work for companies selling ham products.

The seminar is also not training for the ham test, and there will be no ham test offered that morning. There are links on the http://backcountrycomms.com/#NaN site about test dates and sites, and also to study guides. (Scroll way down.)

cb is gone these days (ch 19 on cb is still active and great for traffic and/or bear heads up) . race radios/ham bands are the only way to fly.

You may learn something you may not, if you already hold your ticket you've probably been introduced to this stuff. Then again they will cover somethings in more depth. Also a great refresher. I will probably go
