Won't that really limit the amount of transmit power, for RF safety?

Most radios like a bit of airflow to keep them cool. Add to that the airbag brain is behind that cubby and you'll want to be careful 'drilling holes'..

If I was drilling any holes the console would be out of the truck to do it anyway. Take it apart and see what kind of room you have back there. Airbag sensor should be mounted to the hump at the bottom anyway.

Sorry, yes, only curious. My issue is my job has a parking garage (and being a hamster myself, I frickin' hate parking garages). So it's very limiting what can be done for antenna installs.

    This motor mount works great.

My Larson W-270B fits under the 6'8" parkade.. it's mounted on the drivers side ditch light.

How well do these antennas work without a ground plane?

l cable and truck mass is the reflection of the dipole.

I’m certain it would reach farther if it was mounted on the roof, but I don’t want it that high, so I chose a lip mount instead.

As far as RF exposure, if that’s what you are referring to, my system isn’t going to put out nearly enough to ever cause any bodily injury, or equipment failure, for that matter.

    None thus far
Taking it apart is not something I feel confident doing. But there must be someone who has done it and can tell what's behind the plastic and where to run a wire, no?
