    Great thread and awesome product.

How does moving the shackle mount backward help droop? I believe the photos people are posting of supreme flex, but it also seems counter-intuitive in that as the leaves arch downward they also shorten.

Is it by virtue of letting the suspension fall farther downward freely without binding? I.e. is the stock mount location so far forward that as the shackle rotates toward the axle it cramps the movement of the leaves?

Longer leaf springs on the market can't fit in between the stock locations or at least not without really bending the main leaf. Moving the shackle pivot rearward helps the shackle rotate further near horizontal

Have you trimmed them now? Do I need to? I know my leafs make a loud pop noise when I flex.

Mcmaster.com has some 2" wide adhesive backed uhmw or delrin strips you can cut into squares and stick to the 2nd/3rd leaves. The stock overload has adhesive tip sliders
https://www.mcmaster.com/7701T212/ (Not sure if you have to buy 5ft, also it is annoying to cut, I have been using a razor knife)

I had the same experience drilling, I gave up

So.. I tried that adhesive backed UHMW and I could not get it to stick for the life of me. I had my leaf pack apart last week to clean it out and try to kill the Dakar squeaks and drilled holes for normal silencer pads while I had it apart.

I managed to do it with only killing one bit, just go slow and use plenty of oil. I had the springs in a vice though, i dont know if I could have done it on the truck upside down.

End of the story though - after 150 miles of dirt washboards this weekend the squeaks are back and better than ever!

There's a very real possibility that there is metal to metal causing squeeks with Dakars, but some have pointed to their insert slider pads having grooves that hold dirt, can you confirm that?

Maybe Australia doesn't make the best offroad parts?

To add to the conversation, I've found that the anti squeak pads never help/make it worse. In my experience, it's a lack of grease in the bushings and grit between the leafs.

If I have squeaks after a wheeling trip, I'll remove the leafs and break them down. Clean them all up with some acetone, liberally use a dry lube on them, and reassemble. Then pop out the metal sleeve in the bushing, grease that up, and reinstall. Squeaks won't start again until I go on a super dusty trip and it gets in everything again. I only have to do this every 8-10 months, if not longer.

Yes the Dakars have those yellow slider pads that are grooved. Essentially they have a boarder groove and then an X across the pad. These grooves get packed with dirt pretty badly.

They do have a grease port to use a needle fitting to lube them up. but that just attacts more dirt.

Still looking forward to your spring options though to ditch these damn Dakars!

I think that's worthwhile corrective/preventive squeak maintenance approach (especially post wheeling), thanks again man!

I put leaf liners in mine and have never had a squeak. Also Dobinsons greaseable pins may have helped. I did develop a quiet creak after one wet, wheeling trip. I had bought some sprayable lube, but never put it on. It's still creaking, but I barely hear it.

I was gonna do a hank hill and spray some wd40 or some dry lub spray only cause I'm lazy and dont wanna do it properly. Yet. I have a slight squeak only when I get out of my truck, not when driving around. I'm assuming y'all are getting it during off roading?

Any time. Actually its not that bad off road. But probably because the mud lubricates haha. I get the most when there's moisture in the air

Mine sound like an old mattress, its horrible. Ive sprayed them with lubes and it doesn't help hardly if at all, the one time they quieted down is when they are sprayed with a pressure washer.
