Got my hammer hangers and shackles yesterday. U-bolt flip kit, bump stops and shock relocation towers came in last week, so just waiting now on ADS front/rears and Deaver leaf springs to arrive.

Any reason I couldn't install the HH's now with the stock Pro suspension? It would be nice to see what affect just the HH's have, whereas if I install them at the same time as everything else, I won't be able to tell since so much will be changing all at once.

I'll get corrected if I'm wrong, but there really wouldn't be a reason you couldn't just go ahead and do the HHs now. Probably easier that way instead of doing everything at once.

No reason you can’t do that. I would, as it’ll save you some work when it comes time to relocate.

Totally fine, Hammer hangers rock with stock Pro suspension for ride, handling and durability.

If you do the Hammer hangers first, you'll notice the difference Hh make

    Whole lotta stuff
I remember when I went from stock hangers with dakars to the HH, just that switch along made a huge difference in the truck's composure.

When I say composure, I'm talking about the added stiffness and rigidity that comes with the HH + crossbar. It allows the suspension to do it's job a lot better and you can feel it work. The tacoma chassis is still weak AF, but this helps isolate the rear end performance at least.

    Thread was tlrd.

Are most guys running the cross member? Any issues not running it?

I’m trying to keep stock height and tire location. HH with archive shackle and shock relocation looks like a good option.

I'm not running the cross member, still a noticeable difference for the better.

There are no issues just using Hh without the cross tube. It's just even better with cross tube. Guessing that about 60% of Hh customers don't have a cross tube, because they keep the spare tire. A lot of people come back and order the cross tube later though.

I have HH and cross tube right now, uninstalled.

The plan is to install the HHs with stock leafs.
    Then get an archive/deaver pack.
    Then add the cross tube.
Then do the 2.0 shock relocation.

I’ll try and remember to write down what my impressions are after each phase and report back.

I came back and ordered a high clearance after the fact. I originally planned on making my own, but never got around to it and was kinda burned out from my LT install.

Good for me, because I couldn’t have made what I purchased. Fit like a glove and I bolted it in in about five minutes in my underwear one night. Worth every penny. Took away my rear jitter that lingered after hitting potholes etc and I know it’ll help when flexed out offroad.

Thanks everyone for feedback. That is exactly the feedback I was hopingwhat I was look.

@ARCHIVE and chance of having a crossmember that allows for tire to be kept below the bed? I realize it would be goofy af, but would be a cool feature. I would be willing to pay more to keep stock tire location.

I wish to, but its not possible to retain spare tire in stock location and attach cross tube to inboard side of hangers with any kind of tubing. I've looked into it

Plus so many jump to 35s as to make this not worth the effort. A 33 barely fits in stock spare location and decreases ground clearance

    That's why I'm sticking to a 32" "skinny".
Not sure if it's worth pursuing business wise, but maybe altering the hanger to make a cross tube that somehow mounts to the outside of the Hammer Hangers and maybe mounts to the OEM trailer hitch that so many of us have? I not a M.E. with any FEA software, nor CAD experience, so I have no idea if it could be done and provide extra stiffness... and be viable for the business to produce.

I fit my 35x10.5R17 spare in the stock location. Fit my 255/85R16 in the stock location before that. Only difference is I had to chop my exhaust to fit the 35. 33 skinny fit with just hammering the indexing tabs. No reason to stick with 32” tires unless that’s your thing.

I was also looking at skinny 33” (255/85r16). Totally get it’s nonsense to try to fit a cross bat with something like that in place.

It's my thing. There's many reasons to stick to a 32".

I like a lightweight LT Load Range C tire/wheel combo - even with a supercharger and stock gearing. I've never needed bigger than a 32" tire on my 1st gen that I had for >7 years so I decided to stick with a 32" on my 2nd gen.

I personally have no desire or need to have poke, stance, etc just to have a 34/35+" tire.

To each their own with their intended usage and experiences.

But we diverge from the intent of this thread - the Hammer Hanger and optional crossbar.

I was just saying you can fit a 35” under the bed. Your reply to the earlier comment made it sound like fitting a spare in the stock location was the limiting factor in what size tire you were running. Sorry, back to HH talk.
