Very true. I did not order the bits which I should have mentioned. By the way, I love the ride after installing these. HUGE improvement!

@ARCHIVE Would the hammer hangars be good for towing or heavy loads? I tow a 5100 lb .trailer

So I've towed a loaded down 6x12 uhaul trailer up and down the east coast (~800 miles) a couple times - once without HH and once with them installed. My experience was a much more stable ride with the HH installed. In places where there were rough roads and potholes I recall things feeling really sketchy and like there was a partial loss of control going 60-65 on the highway. Those same types of situations felt far more stable after the HH install. Granted my experience is limited, but I do think there was a significant difference.

What upgrades did you do to your suspension? Or still stock?

I've still got the stock TRD Pro shocks with Deaver u402 II leaf springs in the rear and Eibach lift springs on the fronts.

edit: at the time I was doing that towing I actually just had a 3-leaf AAL in the rear.

@ARCHIVE Question about HH use with an Ironman4x4 suspension.

I've got Ironman's Foam Cell Pro suspension along with their leaf springs installed in my 2020 DCSB.

I'm about to swap out their Performance/lighter duty leaf springs for Ironman's Heavy Duty leaf springs in anticipation of installing a FWC Swift on my Tacoma.

I've searched through this thread and seen a few references to Ironman leaf springs that seem to imply sort of need to modify the leafs to make them fit the HHs.

Am I reading that right or can I just install the HHs and use them with my Ironman set up without any further tweaking?

It's the shape of the Aussie-made leaf packs that's the issue. The Tacoma and Hilux have differently shaped hangers and the Aussie brands for a long time have had rubbing issues with Tacoma hangers.

No need to stick with an all-Iron Man setup. Get yourself some Deaver, Alcan, or Archive leaf packs and call it a day.

    Thanks @BabyBilly
Doesn't matter which hangers, stock or otherwise, if the leaf manufacturer has the 2nd leaf extend into the shackle cavity, there will be some contact or worse...

You should get Hammer Hangers for the ride, sharper handling and durability, and "fix" any spring issues that the spring mfr created.

Or just buy a US made spring that doesn't have interference issues like the Archive HD springs

Roger that, and thanks @ARCHIVE for the speedy reply & explanation!

Ironman is local to me; I have a great relationship with them and would like to continue to use their products.

I did go have a look at my current Ironman leaf springs and the second leaf does NOT extend into the shackle cavity, although Ironman's website imagery does show it extending - I'm thinking their design changed for their US distribution operation but they are still using their Australian imagery.

I'll reach out to Ironman next week and see what they say, but I'm feeling optimistic that I'll be ordering your HHs shortly!

Be aware their HD may be an extra leaf stuffed in as 2nd leaf from top that's longer and does extend inside. I have personally looked at a local Tacoma two years ago with Ironman and they did extend inside shackle.

However some Aussie offerings have corrected the issue recently (they all had same issue) but kept it quiet

Edit: here's that local Tacoma with Ironman HD springs (2+ years old), 2nd and 3rd leaf extend inside shackle

I contacted IronMan4x4 about their heavy duty leaf springs working with AG's HHs.

They believe they should work, but that one might need to cut a small bit of the second leaf off at the end - they said doing that wouldn't be an issue for their springs.

I've attached a picture of the end of their leaf spring that is in question.

At this point I've decided to go ahead and have the AG HHs installed on my truck along with the IronMan4x4 heavy duty leaf springs. I'll report back in early August on how that all goes.

Several times I've seen AccuTune Shocks recommended on this thread. Long story but I've had them on my stock truck with Hammer Hangers for a couple of months. Yeah, they're pricey but they give such a solid ride and just flow over lumps and bumps. Very satisfied customer of Hammer Hangers and AccuTune Shocks. Great pairing.
