I forgot I subscribed to this thread. Probably way back when I had a Hennessy. That hammock is long gone (an old roommate swiped it). I sewed one up a week or two ago when I realized my job always has lunch breaks around trees and I was tired of sitting on the ground. Most of the areas I want to camp aren't suitable for a ground tent either (slope and heavy understory vegetation).

Here it is set up on a lunch break.

I live in an attic currently (only rental I could find) and decided I was sick of the heat so I made a turtle dog stand this weekend to hang out on the patio. Now I can start working on the underquilt with out having to drive to the park out mountains to test it out.

    IMG_1132.jpg

It also helps me get my dog used to the hammock life. He's going to be getting his own hammock that will hang below mine.

I'm all about the hammocks. Orignially started with a Warbonnet Blackbird Xl (fantastic hammock) then went to some DIY net less hammocks and eventually tried my hand at a DIY netted. This is my current baby. Total weight including all suspension and tree straps is 12.8 oz (I'm kinda getting obsessed with ultralight).

Another pic of us hanging on a recent trip. The hammock above is under the cuben tarp, and the other tarps have a Dream Hammock Sparrow and a warbonnet blackbird.

haha our hammock group has a tenter that hangs out with us too. He came for the hammocks but it wasn't for him, stayed because he likes the company and food.

Haha. The tent was actually for the wife and dog. I haven't figured out a way to get my 80lb shepherd to sleep in a hammock. But maybe one day....

    Loose nut behind the wheel.
This steel pipe stand might interest you. I've been thinking of building one myself.

    https://theultimatehang.com/2012/07/portable-hammock-pipe-stand/

It breaks down pretty easily and stows in a truck bed. Although it looks like it'd work as a semi-permanent setup too.

    Too much.
I'm running a Dutchware Chameleon, penny Pincher tarp, Arrowhead white cloud top quilt and new river underquilt. My kids are both running Hammeck Netty with Arrowhead Jarbidge underquilts and owyhee top quilts. They have a ton of tarps to choose from.

    IMG_6112.jpg

My BS troop is 75% hammocks now with a few more Hammeck, some GT kits and another Chameleon. We did the hammock machine for a Jamboree (actually, we had 3 of them set up and they accommodated 9 hammocks total). I'm looking for a good sturdy stand fir my chameleon now..

I've built a turtle but don't like it.

Me and my son get about 30 nights a year hanging. Between scouts and our property that we camp on,were pretty seasoned.

Our troop is hitting the NH Jamboree next weekend at Loudin Speedway. We "camp" in the parking area, and I refuse to sleep on the ground, so I made a new stand.
