Ooh, another thread i can hang in lol. Bought a Hennesy Asym Velcro a year or two ago, finally got to really use it at shamokin a couple weekends ago on a trip with @armyofsquirrels I definitely prefer them over anything else for the warmer months.

How do you customize weight capacity/reinforce a hammock?

For higher capacity, you can use heavier weight material, or double layers.

I got a DoubleNest from ENO and used it for a while and just couldn't get comfortable for sleeping all night in. I got an 11' NylonD from Dutch and it is so much more comfortable. I almost lie completely flat in it. And, it is so much lighter so that is great for backpacking. I still have the ENO for just hanging around in.

Dutch needs to get the SpeedHook thing figured out. I really want that for my suspension. I am using DutchBuckles on 10' straps for now.

I grabbed a Kelty Noah 12 tarp when they were on sale on Amazon for $50, it is kinda heavy but the coverage is great for 2 hammocks.

So that is mainly if you build your own?
Also would the ENO double deluxe hammock be worth it?

I was looking at material on there and nothing seems to be stronger then the ENO double nest. But I dont really know material to well. Just going off what they posted.
Damn that looks awesome! I am going to have to find some big trees, lol. You guys don't wake up with "dead" legs in the mornings from having your feet elevated for so long?

I had it first semester, but left it at home when I flew back in January because I didn't have any room in my bag, also there was literally no where to use it in London.

Your feet really aren't that elevated. If you lay diagonally in the hammock, you are laying almost flat.

Dutch under rates the fabric to be on the safe side. I'd trust a double layer for at least what the eno is rated for.

I want to start hanging around. I need to find trees and get a hammock.... I already have ideas to make a set up to only need one tree and my truck. @deadhed61 Probably has the coolest setup

I was thinking about getting one of these: to hang from if there aren't 2 trees that would work.
Turn that thing where it is vertical and back up to a tree.
Might have to run some straps to the bed tie down for extra support.

I pretty much had the same idea but I was just thinking of taking a pipe and putting it on the mail hitch piece (maybe over the hitch ball)and welding it vertical. And using that as the fake "tree" lol.

Nope, it will be fine. If you weigh enough to bend 2" steel tubing, you probably shouldn't be in a hammock anyway. ;-)

I don't know. If there are 2 hammocks, each with 200lbs in it, that is a lot of leverage being put on the hitch receiver. The straps would take the sheering force and the receiver would just have to support the vertical force. Only one way to find out.

ETA, nevermind. I did the math. The shear force would only be 350 lbs, if your suspension was at a 30 degree angle.
