I hate to see people camping uncomfortably, be it in a tent, Hammock, or whatever. This will serve as a lesson in inexpensive but good quality Hammock camping gear with lots of links and info, but mostly something for me to collect my thoughts and link to for other people.

    Hammock:

$ Yukon Outfitters is a good brand, "knock-off" of an eno.
$$ Dutchwaregear.com has hammocks and other gear.
    $$$ Eno
They are all basically the same, some of the dutchwaregear ones have more features like bugnets and different fabrics. You want a double wide, no this doesn't mean 2 people. You lay diagonally across it to get a nice flat lay, when hung correctly Ultimate Hang Calculator

    Tarp:
    Walmart/Harbor Freight/Tractor Supply square tarp

You can DIY anything you want with fabric from dutchwaregear.com or ripstopbytheroll.com and designs from diygearsupply.com.

    Semi-DIY Gander mountain dining canopy

    Yukon Tactical diamond tarp

    Underquilt:
You want an Underquilt at any temp about 50* or less.

    DIY from diygearsupply.com

    Arrowhead Equipment New River

    Topquilt:
Use your current sleeping bag turned sideways, zip it up so the zipper is at the back of your knees and tuck the flaps around your sides

    Suspension:
$ Dutch buckle suspension, the most versatile and adjustable option

    $$$ Eno atlas straps

Sub'd. I have an RTT but I like to see what setups you guys come up with. I have a crappy hammock I normally tie between a tree and my roof rack to relax in when camping. Don't think I have pics though.

    Eno and Atlas straps :luvya:
I like that it takes up the space of 2 crown royal sized bags and takes seconds to setup
image.jpgBut if I had to do it again I would get a cheaper hammock and use atlas straps. I like all of the loops for caribeaner accessories and they're extremely strong and quick to put up

Never said anything was wrong with it, except your wallet is that much lighter.

I picked up the ripstopbytheroll diy gathered end hammock kit and I'm trying to figure out what in the Sam Hill most of the misc crap they give you is for.

    https://ripstopbytheroll.com/products/netless-hammock-kit

So the light cord, cordlocks, and i guess caribiner are for the stuff sack. I also was seeing people sewing a channel into the ends of the hammock and I guess the rope would be threaded through the channel as a mounting point. What are the cinch buckles for?

Once I make it and use it I'll throw some pics up.

Maybe you guys can help me out- I hope I can be clear in my question. I saw a picture earlier of a "tent style hammock", or a "hammock style tent". It looked exactly like that- a tent that gets strapped to trees and up, off the ground. It looked like it had 4 hanging points because it had a flat bottom and a net dome with support ribs or poles to keep it's shape. Anyone ever seen these or heard of them? Damn click-bait advertising "outdoor equipment" on MSN homepage got me and as soon as I clicked the link, I couldn't find the image anymore. Looked pretty cool and at the very least an easy way to entertain a lucky lady... Not sure if it was all gimmick or if there is any value to these.

Been camping and backpacking in a hammock for nearly 10 years.
There's far too many vendors to list, and so many that you've left off.

Yep, can't list them all. This is just where I have found good prices, good people, and I get my supplies. Just something to start people in the right direction. Everyone will have their favorites and I invite them to be posted as well.
