I miss the hand adjustable throttle control on my 70 series Land Cruiser - you could set it and forget it and crawl over stuff with no jerkiness from the truck bouncing against your foot/accelerator pedal.

Is anything like this available for the 3rd gen?

I imagine it would be tough to do since everything is electronic now. Back with my rock crawler, I used a bicycle brake lever clamped to my shifter and ran a cable to the throttle body. I wouldn’t have a clue how to do it now.

That's what I'm thinking too - it would have to be electronic. Oh well, good reason to get another Cruiser.

Isn't that pretty much what crawl control does? You have 5 speed settings.

You asked, "Is anything like this available for the 3rd gen?" The answer is yes, crawl control.

Here's a little something I found... electronic hand throttle from a foreign market Dyna. Truck is 24 volt, though... and far from plug and play.

Pretty sure crawl control isn’t available with a manual trans so that wouldn’t be an option for everyone.

I don't think adding Crawl Control now is an option, is it?

Oh, so you meant to ask, "Is there an aftermarket add-on that is similar to a feature I had from the factory on my LandCruiser?"

24 volts has nothing to do with the switch. They all work the same.

You do realize that’s a choke switch, not throttle control, right?

You could take a pedal assembly, modify it so that the electronic mechanism that signals the ECU (is it a variable resistor or something more precise?) of the pedal position is controlled by some lever with a friction lock and then wire it in parallel with a switch so you could select foot pedal or hand throttle. I wouldn't recommend that but it seems like a way you could do it.

Diesel engines don't have a choke. This is a throttle switch, idle up. It is for manually controlling engine rpm while operating the PTO that the Toyota Dyna has.

look at the symbol on the switch. And on a diesel Idle up is NOT throttle control. Again very different purpose. I use it all the time on my diesel, as you said increases idle for PTO / alternator output.

That is the symbol Toyota uses on this switch/dial, they install it on diesels only. Further study shows an idle up button on the same vehicle, perhaps to activate this? It should work for a hand throttle on gassers, if it can be integrated.
