Hi, I finally found a generation 1 Tacoma in great shape (2002 ext cab, 4x4, 84k miles). I well eventually need hand controls. Does anyone have experience with handicap controls? What I’m looking is a device that uses something like a motorcycle gas control that swings down to apply breaks. Thanks

Some. I'd buy an official set and not try to fab something up at home. (Although I'm sure with a nice enough shop, you could make a nice set-up)

They're pretty simple really, a rod to the brakes, a rod to the throttle lever behind the pedal and a stalk that pushes one or the other. Up for throttle, down for brakes. (I don't know about drive-by-wire cars)

I imagine there are sites where this is more popular to look for a used set if you can't afford new. Perhaps even a shop that specializes in any major city. Always thought it was a great business opportunity, kind of like installing/ calibrating breathylyzers for cars.
