If I didnt have the camper shell thats what I would do. I hate coming off a long ride and having to strap my bike up to my Yakima rack, and then have to take it off the truck later (hence why I never use it). Must be nice to just chuck it in the bed and go. My current setup involves removing the front tire, but at least its outta sight, outta mind under the shell.

For the money I saved from not buying one of these racks, that's at least another couple rims, maybe a carbon saddle, etc...

I either run over the tailgate if I'm solo, or run my shuttle rack.

That shuttle rack is a bit to extra for my blood. Seems to stick out quite a ways.

Well it can hold 6 bikes, and is a good bit shorter than a 4 bike tray. Plus I can put the tailgate down.

I just ordered an Allen hitch rack for $79. I’m happy with the Allen I used on my car.

Without it, my bike easily would have weighed... 50.5 pounds. I got that baby under 50!

In all honestly, it was mostly to get a reaction out of my leg shaver mechanics. I'd spend all day building this high dollar race bike, then give it a swift little kick.

Leg shavers, you know... roadies... God I had so many of them on the race team who spent more time trying to coordinate their saddle and bar tape colors with their helmets.

My opinion of road bikers would get me banned from this forum.

LOL, gotta love roadies. Nothing like going on a group ride with matching chamois pads.

Speaking of beast bikes, I gotta get a new derailleur cable for my DeVinci boat anchor.

    It ruins them

You should only be mounting your bike by the tires

Yeah... you're going to have to be more specific than "it ruins them".

yeah.... no. The forces from a fork mount style rack are *no different* from the forces seen while riding. Much less, actually. So if your bike can't handle a fork mount rack, you should stop riding it immediately.

I can almost see where you're going with the over-the-tailgate style, but even then at worst you might scratch your downtube slightly.

Pretty sure doing this on a regular basis (not me btw) puts a tad more stress on components than simply using a tailgate pad. p3pb2015462.jpg Your bike must be made of glass if you think any mount style other than what you posted "ruins" the bike.
