Hmm, just a theory, but I would call that a little underinflated for the p-series, which probably means definitely underinflated for the LT series. You would have significant sidewall flex at that pressure In the p-series. The LT would show less flex due to the thicker ply, but the sidewall is still less stiff than designed for at that pressure. What's the max pressure listed on the LT? The p-series is 44 psi. I run mine around 37 or 38.

    Wut

My LT275/70/17 ATm's have a max inflation of 80 psi , you think I should have them at like 70 psi ?

Chalk test is the best way to determine ideal PSI. 37-38 strikes me as a bit high. Mine were about 33 when i did the chalk test.

At 32 psi, mine are wearing very slightly more in the center.

Nope, but if the max is 77 then 32 might be a little light, don't you think?

I'll say it again - the chalk test wont show underinflation until it's so severe that you lose ground contact. That's why it works with overinflation - because the edges of the tire aren't actually touching the ground. Think about it - you would have to be severely underinflated for the center of your tires to not touch. My dcsb showed significant sidewall buckling at 32 psi. I don't know how anyone can look at a tire like that and think it's OK to run a tire that looks half flat for daily driving. Of course the sidewall is going to go first.

Given that the "tire and loading information" sticker on my door jamb says 30 psi and my experience running my 1st gen taco for 12 yrs at the recommended 27-29 psi w/o problems, I b'lieve I'll be just fine.

that's only relevant to the OEM tires

Nope. It just means if your vehicle weight is at the tire's max rated load, you then need to pump up the pressure to 77 psi.

According to a few other members here, 35 psi on the P-metric Dynapro ATm already shows faster center wear. That tire is designed to run with the sidewall bowed out.

    ...until the sidewall fails, apparently.

^OP got 14,000 more miles out of them than warranty.

Are the cracks just limited to this one tire, or are they showing on the other three?

At any rate, I can't believe he continued to run them with those cracks. It looks like they're around the entire tire! That seems like a really good way to have a blowout.

Absolutely he did. I don't think I ever got even 40k miles out of a set in my Mustang, but that was mostly poor (fun) driving habits. I'm still on my first set in my Taco, if you don't count the 5k miles I had dunflops on it.

I have p-rated ATm's, and I run 38 front, 35 rear. 15,000 miles on the and they're wearing great. Still like new. Of course, I don't have as much side wall as you guys since I have 20's.

It was just the one tire and I monitored it every time I rotated my tires. Like I said, it was less than 1/8" deep when I checked it last. I will note that there weren't nearly that many cracks in the sidewall.

The tire placard in the door jamb says 30 PSI, the owner's manual says 30 psi for the 245/75/16's and 32 psi for 265/70/16. The manufacturer's website says follow the vehicle's tire placard but it also states that 90% of max inflation pressure is optimal.

    Color me confused.

^Doorjamb sticker applies to the OEM tires only. The TX Baja trucks with the LT-rated BFG AT KOs would have a higher pressure on the sticker... and the TPMS would have been calibrated for that higher pressure.

The fact only one tire out of the four developed cracks suggests either a manufacturing defect or some prior damage. If it's simply age or underinflation, you'd expect all four to develop cracks.
