I'm going to armchair and talk out my ass, but that guy seemed undertrained and underconfident for the situation. The baton swings looked like panic defense and were not controlled or targeted to end the situation. (I once had an off duty cop tell me that their "warning shot" with a baton would be a hard one straight to the knee, and if that didnt bring you down, it will be bone-breakers next.)

Someone like that should not be answering calls solo, I agree.

Bingo. That copper looked scared and performed poorly. The fact the taco owner got in his truck and took off says it all.

i dunno, i thought he handled it well. his responses looked measured, only ratcheting up as necessary. the first hit with the baton was well timed and he remained in control of closing distance at all times. he contained the situation as best he could and there were no dead bodies. it looks like just the opposite of panic to me.

also, speaking out of my ass fwiw.

I mean, not much you can do as a cop now days. You make one wrong swing and you are all over the news , fired & possibly imprisoned

i dunno. the cop tased him first after issuing the appropriate warnings, and he barely flinched!

if the taser isn't taking him down, that wimpy baton isn't going to either!

i'm going the other way and say that he acted appropriately. my suspicion is that he, or dispatch, already set up backup and was informed they were on the way, he was just first on scene, as i don't see him talking on his radio during the video. the goal at that point was to contain the situation until further help arrived, but also not escalate it any further either. but there was also very few tools he realistically had to contain the situation either.

any normal person, the taser would've flopped them to the ground like a fish out of water. and shooting him wasn't acceptable because he was unarmed, only making aggressive motions...

This is old vid of a stolen truck running from the cops the driver survived. But the original was even cooler because it missed a parked car on the other side of the fence. I think they said it was over 105mph.

Pisser of a situation for the poor pooch left in the truck. Cop folded up like a spineless pretzel when dude approached him and then let him drive off.

Doubt it has anything to do with drugs. Probably just an utter disgust of law enforcement considering the rampant corruption these days. Oinkers. :p

like most weapons the tool is only as effective as the person wielding it.
