I pushed for the MT when we bought it, but work didn’t want a manual in the fleet! The AT isn’t terrible, I just want it to stop leaking. ;)

Still waiting on the vented windoors to come in, hopefully sometime this month. As long as we get them before the weather warms up, I’ll be happy.

Picked the truck up from the dealer today. The new (re-man) transmission is in, everything seems good. Hopefully no more leaks / problems. 11,600 miles

The vented windoors were installed last month, very happy with them. Also made it thru an oil change with no transmission leaks! Hopefully that’s the end of my issues. 17,100 miles.

Quick update, almost at 23,000 miles and have put as many miles on the new trans as the original had when replaced. No leaks!

Getting ready for a vacation, and will be towing my boat 350 miles. Installed Sumo Springs today.

Truck has sagged about 3/4” in the rear from the weight of the topper, dog crates, bed mat, etc. Not bad, but the boat had my 2nd Gen hitting the bump stops all the time. Ride feels slightly firmer (not in a bad way), will be interesting to see how it rides when towing.

How long ago was all this documented? My 2020 perform just fine. I'm sure toyota has vastly improved these trucks since the first gen3's came out.

My 2021 automatic transmission has the same issues with the lurching and “gear hunting”, as some people like to call it. It’s bad enough that my wife thinks I’m breaking while we’re coasting downhill and even on flat straightaways at some points.

I’m getting the KDMax tune done next week to hopefully resolve those issues.

Whatever the latest tsb the dealer did before they turned over the truck to me flat out works, but it always wasn't that way for the first 1k miles doing exactly what you mention. I just drive it normally. I swear this transmission has artificial intelligence learning the roads you travel while getting smoother all the time. I can keep a steady foot on the go petal, and it knows just when to up, or down shift according to the grade of the road.
As far as the downshifting, mine will do it when i tap the brake petal going down long hills. Imo, i like it...saves on the brakes. Never had it happen on a straightaway unless i hit the brakes for some reason.

According to this guy, it does have artificial intelligence that learns your driving habits and predicts what you’re going to do next…
