so honest question, are the jack stands safe/worth it now?

I need a floor jack and jack stands, was going to get some from Pep Boys, but maybe an HF trip is in order this weekend?

Man, this is such a loaded question. It all depends on you. I use my 6 ton HF jack stands with my Daytona 3 ton jack and have zero reservations. I look it over and make sure there are no cracks before it goes under the truck, look at the part that rises up and make sure theres no weird wear marks on it or the pawl, and so far so good. Some other guys on here won't touch a jackstand from HF ever. Someday I'll buy a more expensive set that has a locking pin that goes across when they're at height from a nicer brand. But for what I do, yolo, they work.

Also, I do throw my tires, if they're off, under my truck when it's jacked up as a third backup, just in case. Easy to do for a tiny extra piece of mind.

Edit: one more thought. Go for the 6 ton stands if you're lifted at all. The three tons will reach, but they're real far extended at that point. Plus the six tons have a wider footprint.

I got the big red torins there at the bottom of the page. the 3 ton set. Figured might as well go overboard. I put my wifes corolla on them when I did it's oil pan seal and at the bottom setting the car was like 8 inches off the ground.

I watched this video and trust the new jack stands after verifying/modifying the tooth. I posted it here somewhere but I can’t find it but here’s a link to the same post in my thread:

They are fantastic for the money. And if you plastidip the foam after you fit your gear, you have a pretty sweet custom storage set up.

Does anybody here have pictures of their 20 Ton H-Frame Floor Shop Press in their garage? My local one doesn't have an in-store model for reference. I'm trying to get an idea of how much space it will take up. All I really want one for is to press out bearing/hubs and dimple some plate steel. I'm sure the 12 ton would work just fine for that, but if I can get a bigger one for a little more, why not?

HF ad says 28" x 28" of floor space. Looks right vs the guy in the pic. Avg male shoulders are 19"

Thanks, I ended up youtubing it to see how people were using it and it wasn't bad at all. I'm going to put it on casters so I can move it around as needed.

I have one in my shop; thing is great. Yeah, it takes up a little space, but it's not too bad to wedge in a corner, or next to a workbench. Mine is currently over at the end of one workbench, next to my woodstove. I'll see about snagging a picture of it tonight; shop is a complete mess right now lol

Been lurking the 44” US General roller for over a year. Haven’t seen a price lower than $439.

Is this the new low? In the past, folks have gotten them for a bit under $400 and that’s the price point I’ve been looking for.

    Thanks in advance:hattip:

I wanna say that I got mine 2 July's ago for $399. Even at 439, I'd scoop one up in a heartbeat.

Since their new model (post COVID), most of the coupons have disappeared. Even the old faithful 20%ers are gone.
