The "heavy duty" carbon zinc cells are not worth the effort required to carry them home, even if you get them free. HF's alkaline cells are not bad but not great either.

I have been very pleased with Amazon's Home Basics alkaline cells; AA ($12.49 for 48) and AAA cells ($8.99 for 36)--free shipping for Prime members...

:pccoffee: @cliffyk ...I have the leaking battery problems from leakacell & bunny-batteries. I'm switching to Amazon batteries, I've thrown away a couple flashlights, mp3's, remotes, toys, and such due to leakage. :notsure:

Thanks for passing along this info :hattip:...and it looks like I'll save $$ too.

Almost all cell/batteries now available, regardless of brand and despite the claimed 8 to 10 year shelf lives, seem to share a characteristic that once the chemical reaction has been initiated (i.e. once used at all) they begin an internal physical deterioration that leads to weeping/leaking¹ of the juices inside within a year or so, and sometimes sooner. I have gotten myself in the habit of checking them each 6 months or so, and not leaving batteries in anything of value that is going to sit idle for much longer than that...

    ---------------------------------
¹ - Kind of like a 3rd gen rear axle, except what they leak is corrosive as heck...

Last evening while cleaning out some files I ran across the spec sheet for my 10-year-old HF 5" swivel vise (see above)--bare it weighs 60.5 lbs.

Per HF's site the shipping weight for the new one is 39.6 lbs.--'nuff said...

I have the really cheap $17 plastic welder from HF. It is pretty much a big soldering iron and worked well enough to fill a hole in my kayak from dragging it around for a decade or so. I imagine the nicer one would be better for what you are trying to do... but for $17 it might be worth a try.

We have one, it's more of a local thing. 55 mph speed limit and 800 lbs load as I recall. I'd say your proposed operation is marginal.

All ST tires (trailer tires) are only rated for a max speed of 65 mph. The trailer is good for 300 miles no problem, but the tires are not rated for more than 65 mph. With that said, I've pulled mine lots of times "slightly" over 65mph:)

Not sure if you guys got the recall letter, but the tires on my trailer are being recalled, bring in old tires and they give you some brand new ones.

I have their floor version. I've had it around 10 years. Still works good and I use it a lot.

Is your 10 year old drill press the same as them now?

I have the bench mount, cheapest one they make. Work ok , but low speed is really fast. If I had to do it again, I would buy a little higher end model with 12 speeds or more. I would also pop for the floor model, it takes up more room on the bench than you would think, and you lose a lot of depth because you can only drill as low as the bench.
