I had what you would call a double edge sword experience with HF today. I changed my fan clutch today and needed a 12mm socket, so remembering I left a socket set in my Tacoma from a purchase I made recently. Well luck would have it, they had 2 11mm sockets and was missing the 12mm socket I needed. That same day I was removing my serpentine belt and I had a 25" breaker bar that I purchased recently too, which made removing the belt a lot easier.

I ended up going with the HF tactical knife for $9.99, with the super coupon and was impressed with the quality. I feel this knife is worth at least double what I paid and if I keep it sharp using a whetstone + lubricating the pivot point, this knife should last a long time. The knife feels good in my hand and the grip is one of many features I like about it.

I generally buy quality tools. When it comes to HF, i will buy a tool if its a one time use and cheap to get the job done. Like some specialty sized socket they might have. They have some stuff worth buying thats not rocket science. Bought a dead blow hammer i use once a year, wheels or casters for some little project, a plastic trim removing set, etc.

I bought one of those two cycle 1000 watt generators to run my wood stove blowers and fridge if the power goes out, it died after about 1 hours use. Engine runs but the electronics died. I ended up buying a honda inverter, should have been the first purchase.

This past weekend I went to HF for the first time and bought a Daytona HD floor jack:

[IMG] I'm pretty impressed. The welds are clean, the oil reservoir was filled with the proper volume of hydraulic oil, all the moving parts were lubricated, and the jack felt solid and secure during the entire lifting operation (23.125"!). The wheel casters are nice and stout. The one potential draw back for some people is that it's heavy, so it'll make a nice sound in the dumpster should it prematurely fail.

But seriously, I really like this thing.

@Biscuits I have the other 3 ton from HF and it's a great jack as well! What's the difference in the Daytona from the Pittsburgh?

I considered buying that Jack when I got mine about a month ago. I decided to pass on it and buy one of the Pittsburgh jacks instead. the Daytona looked nice, but is a new brand to see at HF. I have read a lot of good reviews on the Pittsburgh jacks so I decided to go that route. the Daytona did look good though.

I looked at both. If I recall correctly, the Pittsburgh is aluminum and doesn't have the max height that the Daytona. The Daytona is steel, hence the height, and looking at the two I was impressed by the overall quality of the Daytona. The welds were much nicer and of higher quality than the Pittsburgh, and the Daytona has the lift height that I needed because the PreRunner has a ~5.5" lift.

While the Daytona is new, my initial impressions are very favorable. Time and use will prove durability, but I have zero second thoughts on purchasing the Daytona.

+1 on theyellow Daytona jack. Have a 2.5 ton fast pump(two piston) also from there I bought before the Daytona. Daytona is built like a brick shithouse. I went to pick it up and put it in the cart was in for a surprise. I think its at 104# very solid. Tested it and held the Tacoma up over night about an inch off the jack stands. The lift is very smooth and as previously stated welds look good and metal plate is thick. 179 with coupon. bleed the air out it before u use it. They compare it to a snap on.

The red mechanics creeper seems to be well built as well 19.99 w/ coupon maybe less when on sale and using the 20 off coupon. sets low to the ground and rolled easy when I used this weekend

I didn't have to bleed the air out of my Daytona, but that's definitely a good thing to check.

Good to know about the creeper. I'll pick one up today after work; it'll come in handy when I replace my oil pan gasket.

    I'm in SE Houston too...

Well i originally bought it because it got decent reviews. Its nothing i would stake my life on or use with sensitive electronics. The honda i can use with any sensitive equipment i like. Just would have been nice to take that original $100 and put it towards the honda.

I have the angle grinder (the cutoff wheels suck) and the variable speed polisher. Both have been great for my uses.

Is the glue holding up? I hate that shit, every time i pull down a tool the hook comes with it. My stepdaughter has a pink zebra print hot glue gun that i just might have to borrow!

Since my workshop doesn't have a fancy vacuum system to catch the sawdust from my table saw, I figured the snap-on bag at HF would be a good idea. The idea is great, the implementation leaves a bit to be desired. The snaps on the bag are installed randomly, so it is necessary to measure carefully their spacing before drilling the saw stand. Then the bag can only be installed one way. The screws on the male snaps are soft--one twisted off and a couple others would not start in the predrilled holes. I ended up buying some better snaps online. After I got then installed, I tried the snaps. The first one almost pulled apart when I took it off. It was necessary to reseat several of the female snaps.

I got it on and it looks like it will do the job, but it will probably be necessary to pry the snaps loose with a screwdriver when it comes time to empty it. I would give it 5 stars for the idea, and one for the quality of construction.

I've got the EU3000is Honda and it's a machine. Super quiet and plenty of power. They're pricey, but worth it.
