Check out the Costco ones. I think you get more lumens for the $$. I have 18 of them in my garage now :anonymous:

I “started” on 110. 10 years later I’m still using it to build sliders, bedracks, and tire carriers and don’t feel the need to upgrade. It’ll last well into your skill set if you take your time to use it properly.

Here is to hoping that the Yukon Garage Cabinets get released sometime this year.

If you mean these ones, they have 1000 less lumens for the same price. $10 more expensive if you can get the HF ones on sale.

Thank you Joe. But That’s not entirely accurate. Jon and Ryan did a lot of welding for me prior to me buying my Hobart. I did build the second trailer and the flatbed with it though. Jon and Ryan also used 110 welders however.

    1/4 with the Hobart 140

And I welded these thick ass shackle mounts to my 1/4” “bumper” with the Hobart as well

Just realized that Joe tagged me into the “Harbor Freight Tools” thread. So I’m not sure how my Hobart 140 review is going to help.

    Come ON JOE!

I used the coupon site and got a $20 off coupon on mine. Not much, but it’s something. With a two year warranty I think it was about $460.

I’ll weld 1/4” from time to time, but I’m maxed out at my settings and making slow with the loopty loops.

Sears pays a penny for a rebuild kit. They’re far less expense than exchanging a ratchet. The problem is each stores need a cache of cores that are rebuildable, once they no longer have used tools to be swapped out as rebuilds, then they either rebuild each ratchet and turn it back around to the same person or they stop taking warranty ratchets.

The rebuild kits themselves are about as worthless in the literal sense as you can get. You can buy them in store closing sales as store assets for next to nothing.

Rebuilds and warranty stuff is handled at the store first, so the quality of your store dictates how it’s handled.

To add to this, these are all rebuilt by a PMT. All they do is handle returned merchandise and see if it’s repairable or if it can be returned to store stock or if it’s genuinely defective. They also rebuild tools, handle logistics of both inventories and do random shit like pick up hangers from the cashier stations each day before opening, and ship the hangers out.

Understandably, these aren’t essential positions so with Sears current issues they’re often let go early if a store is closing.

I would have been happier with a rebuild kit than having to wait on a replacement ratchet.

They could’ve been taken to another store with more fiscal viability.

I used to work for a Sears owned company and did rehab at a retail store while my tendon healed. I was there for 4 months, roughly, and in that time went from a hub to a store closure. It closed 2 weeks after I left, so I saw how the stores run and are handled and worked closely with both management but also standard retail employees as well as commissioned salespersons.

I rebuilt a lot of ratchets, among other things. I have a fair bit of insight into the workings of a Sears store (including one that’s got a closing date). It’s important to note Craftsman is a separate company from Sears, it was just owned by the larger corporation and enjoyed the perks therein when it came to warranty issues. Those costs were absorbed by the individual stores.

FWIW I finally called the Craftsman Warranty 800# about a week ago. 3/8"dr deep well, 1/2"dr impact, & a 6" C-clamp. Guy was very professional & courteous as I read him the #s. Said to expect something in the mail, 10-14 days, we'll see..
I expect import replacements, oh well.
Napa Carlyle for any future purchases. At least they aren't hard to find.
