No lol but that would've been awesome. I used my ESAB. I did use a warrior grinding disc though.

I've had vise grips as my adjustment knob for my floor drill press since I rebuilt it about a year ago. The little stump that remains after the plastic knob(most likely bakelite judging by the age of the machine) broke off has teeth marks in it so the previous owner did the same thing. I'm only now getting to fixing it and only because I needed the vise grips for another repair I was working on.

I assumed I could just use vice grips on it and I did try that first LMFAO but the bolt kept sinking in and wouldn't hold tension:rofl:

You can tell lol... He also didn't remove any of the chromium before welding. I give you +5 points for creativity and -6 for execution.

I'm curious as to what 2" fasteners you're adjusting. Not being asinine, just don't see that type of socket everyday. It must be for something unique.

I work in a pipe production plant and the buggies that the pipe is packed in are adjustable using a 2” socket. When the machines change products you have to adjust the pack buggy depending how the pipe packs. Doing it with a socket and a ratchet gets old.

Yeah the Buggies are 18’ long and have 3-8 adjustments to open them up wider or close them in closer. Doing it with a 10 pound ratchet that doesn’t half work and a socket gets old and takes for ever. So using an electric impact and my own socket is easier on me and saves time.

I commend the innovative solution. If it does fail on you, it won't take much to weld right back over that chrome again! haha! What pipe diameters? I presume IDs over 6"? Geeking out on your job, sorry.

1/2”-12” foam core and pvc. Top producer in the USA.

All the buggies are built the same. All adjustable the same. 2” socket

DWV and SCH 40 extrusions, eh? Learned all about mixing of ethylene and chlorine, it's oxychlorination, and the polymerization of the VCM before those powders are sent off to a plant for extrusion. I learned way more about PVC production tonight than I ever thought I would. I owe it all to that blind-welded socket of yours.

Yes dwv, schedule 40 and schedule 80. Also flow guard pipe. Every pvc fitting you can imagine. Fabricated 12” fittings. We make it all. Google North Carolina plastic pipe extrusion. Company owns plants all across the United States, from North Carolina to Utah to Texas to Colorado and the list keeps going
