Getting to be a dead horse here, but if HF had jackstands with a shear pin I wouldn't trust the shear pin. Just like if I was working on a helicopter rotor I wouldn't get the Jesus bolt from HF either.

Harbor Freight does not sell jackstands with locking pins, so therefore you are saying you would not buy jackstands from Harbor Freight..

That is unless you do buy and use jackstands without a locking Pin :p

I'm mainly poking. I want to see a photo of a failed unit.

I mean it'd be like someone putting machinery on top of one and the pins breaking, or someone releasing the pump on a jack and it slamming down.

I use HF jackstands for a while, but I always put something that can't be crushed by the weight of the truck under there with me.
For example working on my rear axle with jackstands under it and a wheel/tire under the axle as well. Even if a Jackstand fails I'm fairly sure it wont crush a rim.

same, and I use my HF jackstands if I need more than 2...but they're always under the end that I'm not. mainly because they aren't tall like the others to allow ample workspace. I'm with you though, I'd like to see a failed one...

you saw a failed unit and didn't take a photo of it?

Did it look same as a new one or was there obvious issues?

Yeah I have been persistent in this thread about this because one failed on me, a few teeth broke out as a separate piece while I was under a VW bus changing the oil, I wrote out the story a few weeks back on this thread and said I don't trust their jackstands which stirred some discussion before the recall. The tire was on so I could squeeze out. They were new.

    Well shit, wow dude.

Also I will say just because all or most jackstands look the same and are made in China does not mean that they all have same tolerances.
What the final company allows to make it to our stores and be sold is on the quality control department.

Guess I'll be buying some nicer jackstands when the time comes.

Took my 3 ton recalled ones in today, bought them a year and a half or two years ago, maybe longer and couldn't find the receipt so they tried to return it no receipt at 19.99. I called BS and said I know I paid more than that, that's the clearance price and they adjusted it to 24.99.

Thennnnn they were having problems processing it onto a gift card, so I said well I'm just going to turn around and spend it again anyways so they suspended the transaction while I went and grabbed one of the plastic shop creepers and a set of 6 tons (used 20% off on the jacks and $10 off on the creeper) and walked out for $32 and some change. I'm OK with it and will use a backup method (tires under truck), I should have gotten the 6 tons from the start, I was maxing out the height of the 3 tons before on the truck.

My Craftsman 4-ton low profile jack is made in China.........I don't trust my health to it or any other one item. I install a secondary backup (pulled tire, stacked boards, other jack stands, etc). If an accident occurs, and I get hurt/kilt through two supports, then so be it. It was my time.

I was considering these but don't like the rubber puck style top. The entire bottom of my truck, like so many of ours here, is slobbered up with cosmoline.
