I ended up getting an 8" diameter auger instead of a 6" and setting some 4x4 posts in concrete. I'm really glad I didn't get a 6" diameter as that is barely larger than a post at the corners. I'm glad I bought one as it only takes a few seconds to drill a perfect hole for a good sized plant, which makes landscaping more fun. I felt it paid for itself after 10 deep holes and considering how many plants it helped stick in the ground, was one of the best bang for buck yet for yard improvement.

I've had good luck with the jack stands -- yes, I'm aware some were just recalled. I've used the 12 ton ones when working on my Deuce and a half where wood cribbing wouldn't fit, and the 3 or 6 ton ones for everything from temporary patio roof supports, to holders when welding pipe.

Oh, and an important note, and I'm calling this out since I didn't even realize it when I bought my first set many years ago: the jack stand weight ratings are when you are using both to support the load. So don't think the 3 ton jack stands will support 3 tons each.

What kind of dirt are you dealing with? Vegas has lots of hard clay and small to medium rocks.

It depends on what you are buying. Cheap sets sold in pairs show the combined weight, better ones show the individual weight. Either way look at the statistics of what you are buying so you know beforehand.

Got froggy with the coupons, and I didn't feel bad cutting and modifying without even using it first cause it was from HF.

Yep, that's what I'm saying. Had some more expensive 3 ton stands, sold as a pair but were 3 tons each. Bought another pair of 3 ton stands from harbor freight, was surprised how much smaller they were, then realized they were 3 tons for the pair.

I agree but it's not just Harbor Freight. Pep Boys, Autozone, Sears, Amazon, EBAY. Any place you buy them from you have to look at the specifications before you buy them. I spent six months looking around before I bought my ESCO 3 Ton (Each X 2) jack stands. There is an Amazon link at the bottom of the page if you are interested.

Looks great. In the pic of the vice did you make an extension for the in/out lever? That's what I'm guessing.

    Thanks!

Yessir. I chopped it after the seal register and used an old socket extension as spacer material. Just welded it on, chopped it at the height I liked and welded the handle top back on.

Covered my tailgate using only HF stuff:

    - 1 panel of interlocking floor mat
    - 1 roll of solid drawer line
    - a few HF razor blades
    - their hot glue gun and about a dozen stocks of glue

Glue seems to be holding really well so far, and if it fails it’ll be easy to peel off with no permanent damage.

Without going through the whole thread, I hope it goes without saying to leave ALL the torque wrenches alone. Not just HF either. ALL cheaper click type torque wrenches have failed me. I use a beam type now.

I’m pretty sure I could make a full blown light bar with all the ones I have haha

Seems like that’s the only free item I’ve seen for a while. I miss having options.

Pullman huh? That's how far I had to go to find one of those Apex winches in stock, made for a nice Saturday drive though. Your guys' HF is looking directly out over the rolling hills of the palouse, pretty nice view for such a discount type store haha.

I have so many of those I'm canabalizing parts. I deconstructed one and took an LED to use on a repurposed mid century modern stereo console. It's the indicator light when power is on (now has a modern stereo inside the cabinet).
