those type of sanders are good for spot welds and body work, not anything super heavy duty. I have a pneumatic version from Astro pneumatic, and use it quite a bit for smaller jobs and hard to reach areas.

Good to know. I'm now leaning more towards using a dremel if I can find a suitable attachment.

I ended up picking these up at lunch to see if they'll get the job done.

I bought the HF scroll saw for a different project, however I found a new use for it while building a small walnut box. When you are trying to have a continuous grain pattern wrap around the side, front, side and back, kerf loss can screw that up. Kerf is the width of the blade and how much wood it takes away. Draw a wavy line, then remove 1/8 inch in the middle and push the pieces together. Your line will not match up.

They sell thin kerf blades but they are very expensive. So, I thought of other saws that use a thin blade. My first experiment was with a jig saw, but the tear out was too much. Up next was the scroll saw. I made a relief cut with the table-saw to make less work for the scroll saw, but kept it below where the miter goes. You can see the difference in width of the table saw blade vs the scroll saw. Huge improvement! HF scroll saw gets another Pass from me.

Lol. I was looking at the 14-inch bandsaw last week and it was around $429. Now, with all these "sales" going on its listed at $449. I wonder if it will go back to $429 next week.

Probably, but the 15% off gives you a price of $381 even with the higher price.

Great! I think I'm going to copy/paste this and send it to my other half. Help justify it! We just don't have a lot of room, so this would likely have to be outside, under a carport like structure on the side of the house. I realized yesterday that 1) I am stoopid and do dumb things even when I know better, and 2) I need a bandsaw. I was using my 8 1/2 (2 1/2 cutting depth) table saw to re-saw a 4"x3/4" board into 3 thinner pieces. The first cut was fine, but when I went to cut the second thin piece, I noticed the outer side was over the gap between the throat plate and the blade. I figured I could hold the cut piece up after the blade to keep it from dropping into the gap. Man, am I dumb. I KNOW BETTER! Anyway, nothing of mine got cut off but the piece did fall in and bind. Luckily I got it shut off fast. My high school shop teacher, Mr. Larson, was missing part of a finder because of a table saw and not listening to the sane voice in his head.

BTW - what coupon give 15% off the band saw? I'm wading through all their "deals" and coupons but don't see anything that I could apply to the band saw.

The 3/8" M12 Fuel Impact is awesome for working on cars. It has lots of torque for the size and it's small enough to fit into tight spaces so it's generally more useful than the larger impacts. There is also a 1/2" M12 Fuel. The gun is the same size but it has the same torque rating as the 3/8" and you lose a little clearance as 1/2" sockets tend to be bigger.

What @StrangeDuck said seems to be the consensus. And HomeDepot has been running a deal the past few months where the 3/8 or 1/2 impact wrench you can get with a 2Ah and 4Ah w/ soft case and charger for $189!

I bought 2 HF flat tv mounts recently. And So far I only used the full motion mount. Instructions were ok at best, but seems well made and functions as it should.

I bought a stuf finder as well. The thing was pissing me off, as it seemed very in accurate. How could a 2x4 be running vertical, then just disappear? Or why was I getting such bad readings as far as every x" spacing. I was bothered enough, that I took down the wood paneling, and it may not have been the stud finders's fault. 2x4's that were not placed every 16". Only going up 2/3 of the height of the wall, then hitting a horizontal stud???

Man I love dealing with other people hack job home repairs.
