My HF heat gun died after 12+ years, just picked up another to replace it. I think I got my $10 worth out of the first one :)

Pawl. That's the word I couldn't get my fingers to type. I think it was the replacements for those ones that got recalled for the welds.

Have you checked out the Daytona replacements? I have to say the ones I got look great and the safety pin is a welcome feature

HF has definitely put in work to make some of these products better haha

I've got the Daytona 3 ton in the box behind my driver seat. Haven't looked at them, they are spares as I have my 6 ton stands under my '40 for the winter.

I'm guessing part of the issue was idiots kicking the locking handle itself. The pin physically prevents the lock from disengaging the notches. They also added a weld across the joint (instead of ending the weld 1/4" fron the end) and welded an additional support. 7¢ of material and labor allowed them to raise the price $15.

In my case the cast tooth broke off when the vehicle fell on me. 100% do not recommend. Important to maintain and not dilute that quality issues were present.

I mean, if there's weight on it you shouldn't be able to kick it loose so idk. Those things look beefier than my Torins

I have spent many a hour at HF but it seems lately I just don't go very often at all.... and when I do they seem to be less busy than they usually were... .Is it me or reality???

Higher prices, very rare to get freebies, no more regular 20% off coupons.

I must go at the wrong times, but I swear mine is a laundering front. There's like 6 people in there tops whenever I go in.

Edit: Even before all the coupons, etc got cut.

Yea prices do seem higher and if I play my cards right for many things I can get a Husky or Kobalt version that is arguably as good and sometimes better. Of course HD/Lowes don't have the selection but.....

That tab is supposed to get bent in, too. Just like the large warning label right next it says. The old ones I don't think had the label pointing directly at it to bend it in, it was just in the user manual that you should.

I still haven't done that to my Craftsman stands from 2001!!! Every time I see that little warning I laugh and think about how many other people don't do that!

I don't bend the tabs, that way I can stack the stands for storage.
