Comparing a 3 ton stand to a 6 ton isn't nessisarily about how much it will hold.

I currently have my commercial lawn mower jacked up on stands in my garage to go over it.
In the rear I have some 6 tons and the front some 3's. The 3's hold it fine but not as secure as it's on the last setting. The 6's are more stable as the shaft goes further down into the stand.

Yea I prefer my 6 tons for the added height. With my lift and tire size with the threes I need to block up for anything other than rear axle housing.

Picked one of these bad boys up recently, and I don't know how I've lived without one. A grinder is kind-of an NVH disaster, but this thing is relatively quiet and smooth to use. No sparks, and larger chips that aren't launched, are also great for the safety aspect. Grinder still has is place and versatility, but I love cutting with this thing now.

Mount it on a swag table and you'll like it even more.

I agree, angle grinders are great but they're kind of cavemanish. I just got a porter cable 6" mouth bandsaw 40% off that I'm eager to get a ferrous metal blade for.

Yeah that Husky one is pretty similar, not quite as quiet, not quite as powerful, but close and $50 cheaper.. I will take a look..

They don't even sell the Huskey compressor I bought less than 2 years ago anymore... Shame too because it was their only 2-phase, single stage, large capacity option (60 gal). Think I paid around $600 for it, been very happy with it.

btw "80% quieter" I think just means about 6db quieter..

Yeah its only a 4db difference between the two. 69 vs 73.

I have not tested the Husky noise level, but did test the 2 gallon ultra-quiet Fortress compressor. The noise was much greater than the claimed dB rating, even from across the room. It was something like 80 dBA at 1 foot and something like 75 dBA at 15 feet, both of which are much higher than the claimed noise level of 60 dBA. The actual numbers I think I posted earlier in this thread.

An actual comprison of noise is probably needed to compare the two as their claimed measurements seem to be from the marketing dept.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
If you want a "quiet" compressor, you need to be looking at the more expensive oil bath belt driven units where the electric motor is independent of the compression cylinder.

The link above said 69db *shrug*
I'm sure it's in free space, no reflections, which ofc is impractical.

It's also A-weighted. Not sure if your measurements took that into account.

This is the one I have. Since then. No issues at all. I've replaced the fluid once.

The 60 dBA I quoted is from the 2 gal Fortress ultra-quiet compressor, which is the one I measured. Agreed it is A-weighted.

I was just trying to point out that the dB ratings are far from accurate, at least for the Fortress 2-gal.
