I got the welder on sale so it was a wash. Now I am in a more permanent place with a shop but no money for a welder :annoyed: such is life. We are doing a whole home remodel so don’t really have any time to mess around with a welder now but I do have a hand railing I could use a welder for :anonymous:

That's usually how it goes. "I have money for xxxxxx, but no shop/space/time to put it or use it" or "Now I have the shop/space/time, but no money to buy the things to fill it"

I bought an old (1950's) bandsaw on CL. I could have spent about 50-75 bucks and bought a stand for it, but no.

Instead, I bought a welder, cart, gloves, gas bottle, mask, welding table and various clamps and magnets. Cost me almost a grand. Learned to weld (poorly), and over 3 years later I still haven't finished the stand.

If only there was a way to get Harbour Freight to make an ECGS Bushing tool. ;)

I've had pretty good luck with most things I've bought at HF... Only thing I bought that ended up being kinda junk was the small bench/belt sander by Chicago Tools(?). I also have the same brand scroll saw that has actually been pretty good for some smaller projects when I made some christmas gifts or crafts. I would NEVER use it for serious work or hobbies though. Even the Badlands 12000 lbs winch I bought for my Jeep TJ wasn't terrible. I've got plenty of hand tools that have been just fine, and some small packs of things like sheetrock anchors, o rings, electrical ends for smaller wires. I'd say the BEST thing I bought was probably some 360 degree locking caster wheels that I put on the bottom of my guitar amp cabinet to replace the original feet so I can roll it around easier for transport.

If they did their market research, they'd see that this website has been passing around the same one for 2 years or more....that would probably kill the whole deal lol

A wise man said it’s not a f-up unless you toss it in the scrap bin. Even then, it could be part of another project.

I think there was a reference to exhaust hanger pliers somewhere? No one wants to buy a pair for a single project so the one guy who does buy them just gives them to the guy that needs them, and so on and so on... like the sisterhood of the traveling pants, lol.

The ECGS bearing tool. I can’t find the thread quickly but there’s a big one that’s been going for years now.

Sorry. When I was typing that, I was right below the comment about HF needing an ECGS tool. I didn't notice that by the time I was done typing, I was further down and it made no sense.

Anyhow, that's what I was talking about...the ECGS tool that's been passed around here. dumontrider linked the thread above.

Honestly they are like speed clamps. You can have too many but most of the time you need at least one more.

    Both.

    6’s for the truck.
3’s for when you need to drop the axle.

If the measurements are the same as the old Pittsburg version, the 3 tons weren’t tall enough for lifted tacomas and you’d want to get the 6 ton if you plan on doing any suspension work with them. I have 4 of the 3 ton versions that work great for civics and Subarus and 2 more of the 6 tons that I use for the truck.
