If going electric, get a cordless. That way you can take it with you on road trips or trail runs.

I have one of their tap and die sets....love it. Also own one of their 1/2" drive micrometer style torque wrenches. I checked the calibration at work on a torque wrench calibrator thingie...dead nuts on. Their step drills rock too.

I've had a pretty good experience with their narrow crown stapler. It can shoot 18 gauge brads but only used with narrow crown staples.

I also like their HVLP sprayer. I cleaned it down good and put new O rings and teflon tape, sprays water base poly very well.

I bought a pack of bungee cords once to put a tarp on my trailer. I hooked one side, stretched it to hook the other side and the knot pulled through the hook and hit me right in the eye. Damn that hurt!

I agree, an injury like that could've been very serious and you were really lucky!

I buy stuff at HF. My last purchase was an air cut off tool. Works great.

Anyone have any experience with their transmission jacks?

    Which one?
I had the smaller red screw type. Did its job, but wasn't the most stable. Left it at my buds house when I left AZ. Kicking myself right now cause I need one.

Whichever is the least expensive one that I can use. I am giving a go on a new clutch. First time doing a clutch, and I want to make sure I have the proper tools to make it as pain-free as possible.

Over the years I have bought alot of stuff from HF. I love the huge 300 piece wrench set I bought.

I am starting to get pissed with them though. I went and bought the 2 Ton jack a month ago. I handed the cashier my 20% coupon, and was informed it was no good on jacks. You can add that to all the other things its no good on. Welders, trailers, tool storage, basically any of the expensive stuff.....:annoyed:

Yeah. I want to get a trencher, and that $400 off would be nice. But, coupon is no good for that.

The smaller screw type would work if you can get it high enough. Measure how much height you need. If you use the screw type, make sure you strap the trans to it well.
Edit: If you have a floor jack, another option is to just buy the trans left plate adapter that attaches to the floor jack.

Yeah. I get their mailers. And those 20% off coupons are a tease. The fine print kills it. But I can always find something to use their coupons on. The freebie coupons are awesome.

I wouldn't trust anything from HF that spins fast i.e. cutoff wheels, grinding discs, wire brushes, etc. Their rpm ratings are probably just someone drunken Chinese guy's best guess. Their small airbrushes work surprisingly well; I bought one to spray some Duracoat figuring it'd be cheap enough to toss when I was done but I clean it after use and the thing keeps on spraying. I've got one of their brad nailers and an electric stapler that work fine as well. Also their heat shrink tubing seems to work as well as the more expensive stuff from other places but it's not marine grade with adhesive inside.

I bought the 2 ton racing jack and 6 ton jack stands. haven't used any of it enough to have a opinion. I bought the jack with the intention of getting a sled and keeping it in my bed for offroad use. I really, really, really want their trailers for projects.

Any opinions on their welders for a complete noob?

I have had decent luck with the 6x8 greenhouse, like anything else, do research and see if/how you can make it work for you. I did a few minor things and have a greenhouse for short money.
