They usually have a 59 cent razor knife at the register that I buy when I want one of the freebies and don't need anything else.

Did anybody else get an email about a class action suit against HF? It's pretty laughable, something about "sale" prices not really being sale prices because the items were never sold at the higher "compared" pricing. Oh boy, I can't wait for my .37 cent check to come. "You can have ketchup on your spaghetti tonight kids!"

Compared prices are always a joke. HF has opened so many stores around here it's ridiculously. I didn't get the email, but if I get a dollar, I'll go spend it at HF and still get free shit. lmao

The 'compare to' price is the price of the comparable real product that the HF product is knocking off. Not sure where the confusion is.

The "confusion" is that when they post a item for sale, they say how it's full price is $x. The problem is that never in the history of HF has it sold for that full price.

It's doesn't say anywhere that it is the full price. It always says "Compare to" or "Compare at" or something next to it.

This. They will show the 44" toolchest with a "Compared At" price that matches a SnapOn.

I just went on and looked at that. That is new on every item. Previously they listed a full price for the item. The price was still way cheaper than the Snap on price, but a decent amount more than what they actually sell for.
Maybe this is why they are being sued?

Somebody else... Sears maybe? Got stung with that type of lawsuit probably at least 20 years ago. A lot of places now include disclaimers in their ads saying that sales may not have been made at the original price to avoid this kind of stupidity.

I agree. I never bought something from them thinking it was really worth the "regular" price.
But there definatly is basis for the suit. HF agrees since they went and changed how they price stuff.

I never buy anything at HF that isn't on sale, or that the 20% off coupon cannot be used with...

Their tool boxes aren't bad, but I'm happy with my Matco box. Traded my way up to it from an Xbox 360 and a 42" TV.

For those of you buying the 44" toolbox, is the packaging that it comes in small enough to fit inside the bed on its side with a canopy on top?
