I've done a mod or two
The actual MityVac one works better than the HF brand one.

Yeah, it's probably time to upgrade to the real thing. I had my compressor at 120, and the tool would drop the pressure to 80 psi in 30 seconds. It was so slow for those rears....worse than watching paint dry.

I thought I read that in the trd off road, you can let the truck bleed the system on its own.

I read about how the auto bleed works...but I didn't want to screw it up with $50 worth of fluid..stuck with the vacuum bleed technique I know.

My experience with compressed air venturi vacuum pumps has been that they all suck--no pun intended. They consume huge quantities of air as "mbrogz3000" reported, and produce mediocre levels of vacuum--30k to 40k microns at best--barely adequate for AC work.

The only advantage they might have is that they are cheap, $18 for the HF unit, but it is a poster child for "you get what you pay for"¹. The good news is that that is rated to draw down to 75 microns. I've had mine for years, last used it when installing a new AC system in our house. With fresh oil it pulled to 68 microns--99.99+% vacuum. HF does not sell the vacuum pump oil, get it from Amazon...

    ----------------------------------
¹ - If you buy the cheapest there is there is a very good chance you will get the cheapest there is. Though this is not always true it is true often enough that one must pay heed.

I think the application is just poor. The Bernoulli effect works well when the system is already primed but you just get cavitation when it's air to air. They are better for extracting fluids from reservoirs than from air locked pipes.

I buy from Harbor Freight just about daily. Tools are not the best quality sometimes, but for the price they can not be beat! I recommend! Anyway just some FYI... if purchased anything from Harbor Freight between 2011 and Dec. 2016 you can get some money back. There is a class action settlement for false advertising. I'm looking at getting back hundreds!

    If your interested...

The document describing steps to take says they must all be completed by June 7 of this year. Just a few days late.

I'm reading June 7th is the exclusion and objection deadline. The claim form says August 7th.

I was using a brand new gear gun from there this morning and it caught on fire in my hand. Bought it this morning, brought it home, fired it up and started using it. It was smoking a little at the tip but I assumed it was burning off it's new gun stuff. Used it a second round, and when I shut it off, there were some flames at the output. Quickly unplugged the gun and blew it out, but damn!!

Nice! I have a pretty large deck that needs staining, I guess I am making a trip to HF. Thanks!

Don't get their flapper wheels for a grinder. They don't fit well.

Ive never had an issue with any of their grinding/flp/cutting discs fitting in my dewalt grinders. Not the best stuff but they do work for being cheap IMO

I may try theirs, I bought some cutting discs from Home Depot and they exploded before I could complete one cut.

I'm sure like any HF item it depends on the batch. The ones I bought weren't thick enough and would spin independent of the grinder.

    Everything TW members recommend
Went nuts and bought a bunch of assorted HF welding stuff: Cart, table, magnets, clamps, pliers, chipping hammer, gloves, wire brushes, apron, sleeves, blanket, etc.

That cart is legit. I loaned my Hobart to a buddy for a few weeks and to say thanks he bought me one of those carts. It's a damn fine cart IMO.
