For a small pick up, I agree with boynoyce, this configuration is just about perfect. Kids are grown and gone, always just me in the truck, still the shorter wheelbase, and long bed.

I had always wanted suicide doors, esp a '61 or '62 Continental convertible. I finally got my wish, mostly. :D

    Like, so many.
If you don't need a real rear seat, I'd go AC.

Access cab, manual transmission with the Off Road package? I thought only Canadians were offered this combination! I would be all over it!

My teenage daughter is 5ft 6” and around 125 lbs and I wouldn’t even say that she fits nicely in my double cab. I have to move my seat up a little and I feel a little cramped and I’m only 5’8”. How are you guys claiming to fit in a A/C nicely? Aren’t the seats front facing to unlike the old side facing style? I don’t think I could even imaging getting an A/C even if it was just me. Although I guess having 1 more ft in the bed maybe a little more useful.

I believe the OP is talking about Sports like ours. I have not found it to be a limitation for the offroading in that I have done. A few months back, mine did just as well in some snow wheeling as my friend with a lifted and locked Bronco?

My friend that is a salesman at the dealership said it was a special order that was canceled. Should be here in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your advice ... it's what I am going to do.

Well, I’m 6’-4” and ride in the back of my truck occasionally when we have a passenger and my wife drives.

    Not optimal but doable.

The short be on a mini truck is a non starter for me, and if I was even considering something in the double cab long bed size range, I would just get an F150...

I really need to get a pic of them. They are about the same height and weight as your daughter.

The thing is that I sat in the back of a DC once and chuckled. With the much thicker seat back and storage behind, the available space is not that much different. What I did notice was with the thicker seat bottom, by head was riding the headliner more. Of course, my head rides the AC headliner also. 6ft with a short inseam.

Bro, you've got a bloodhound, any truck you pick is gonna be ok. Personally, Id get the Sandstone, but if the cement is ok for you and you prefer the manual then go for it.

Whoa! Wait a minute. From everything posted here, Toyota does not do that kind of special order, esp now. If this is a US-spec ACLB OR MT, it is a serious unicorn. My bet is that someone is confused about the allocation?

He sent me their dealer spec sheet. I took the VIN and plugged that into Toyota's VIN page ... checks out. I love mysteries so I guess I have something to look forward do when it comes in.

I went with access cab to. Imo, a better looking truck to. Those dd cabs, especially with a short bed look weird to me. Coming from a gen1 tundra with a bit larger access cab, i thought i was going to have problems storing my gear, but to my surprise it all fit nicely. Only issue so far was during the first month owned...a sticky door switch that kept activating the dash master warning led. Some dioxit spray on the switch fixed that. Since then all's been good.

That is crazy. Please post up more when you get to see it in the flesh. I'm trying to not be skeptical, but that could be something really special.

Every time I see an OR ACLB with Canadian plates, I am wishfully envious and assume they are all MTs. Hahaha!

    You ARE RIGHT !!!!

I just did a look at the spec sheet he sent me and the Toyota VIN sheet ... I'ts NOT a TRD OR ... but a TRD Sport, Access, 6-speed manual

since you have already owned an off-road, would you go sport to get the MT?

Or is the crawl control and brake booster more important?

Damn. I wanted it to be an OR.

The Sport is seriously good though. My recommendations are ATs as the stock Toyos really suck on the street, esp the wet. They oddly do ok offroad and really, oddly good in the snow. Just a weird tire.

Also, search out the accumulator delete (ADM), 2Lo Mod (2LM), and consider the sway bar delete (SBD). IMVHO, the Sport with the SBD drives like an OR but with less brake dive.

I haven't read the entire thread, so maybe this has been covered. First, you use the '59 Single Cab to haul anything and I will beat you. Maybe if it was a Doka or something.....:)

Secondly, I have a DCSB. I purposely bought this truck based on owning a 2005 Frontier DCLB. The double cab on the Frontier was nice and I was able to transport folks without issue. I can't remember if someone could fit behind me or not. I'm a tall dude. I wasn't too fond of the long bed. At the time I was dating someone that lived in a major metro area and trying to find a parallel parking spot that would fit that truck was a pain. The long bed was nice on occasion, but enough to make me NEED one.

And now the Tacoma. I've needed the long bed a billion times. Typical, huh? And the double cab for the Tacoma seems to be quite a bit smaller than the Frontier was. The backseat is worthless for peoples. Like 100% worthless. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the access cab and call it a day. I'd have the extra space for gear and still have the jump seats just in case I HAD to put someone back there. My dog also hates the double cab because the seat is too small for her. I think she'd be better in the access cab with a dog bed.

So there's my .02. Don't spend it all in one place.

MT ORs don't have CC / MTS. They do have ATRAC which is mostly similar, but just one setting.
