So I am looking at a 2019 SR double cab, v6, 4x4. I test drove the truck and liked it.

MSRP on the window, including optional equipment: 32,480
Invoice (according to some online site): 29,600

    "Wow Price": 28,200
    dealer processing: 899
    freight: 1,295
    Tax: 1,250
tag, title, dealer fee, miscellaneous idk: 850

    total: 32,494

I got this price and left, told the guy I will call him tomorrow after "talking to my wife."

I haven't bought a new car in a long time, so I forgot how much the fees and taxes add up to. Is it standard to ask them to waive any of these fees? How much would you try to get them to knock off this price??

I'm hoping he calls me after this weekend and offers me a lower price to try to hit his end of the month goal.

900 for dealer "processing" and another 1300 for freight? shouldn't it be one or the other and not both?

Have you read up on this real well? I haven't myself but did just buy a used 2016 Sr 5 with the tow package. Between Sr and Sr 5 there are many factory options, and some seem worth the extra bang for the buck, like the tow package. The top end 2019 have features that scare me like some sort of emergency steering where it does things you didn't do. That might not be found on the SR . There is so much stuff to check out, and the owners manual makes out like every truck has everything it says, but the truck won't . Then it might have things you really don't want, which for me is anything besides me steering the truck at all. I also don't care for ABS brakes and still believe I can stop anything faster and better than ABS can . I might be wrong, but to find out someone needs to put some money on the table.

    Strictly my opinion:

"Wow Price": 28,200 not too bad
dealer processing: 899 ripoff, should be $0
freight: 1,295 should be no more than $800-900 and should be included in price
Tax: 1,250 don't know where you are, trade-in, etc.
tag, title, dealer fee, miscellaneous idk: 850 seems high...for me this runs about $100-200

They can waive any fee with "dealer" in front of it and also whatever the sticker price is, they can definetly get down to that. The dealer upsales like crazy. I would not try to go too far with asking them to waive things as it is a Tacoma and they do sell either way. With that said, do try to have them waive anything that it is a "dealer fee" and try to finaggle on that price a bit, worst case is they say no and you start back over at what they are offering. Also make sure the price point they give you is after tax. And sorry for the run on but take into consideration that they are only selling the truck to you, then you go into finance and those guys will try to sell the toyota care and maintenance as well as the alarm system and paint protection plan etc etc...

Hope this helps and good luck!

He wants $32,244 plus tax . You should be somewhere close to $29,500 plus tax that's tops and no other fees . That $29,500 includes tags title and stuff .

Based on the MSRP you posted, I would pay no more than $31459 OTD. Period end of story. I used the same method to get my truck with an MSRP of $42,251 for $40,724 OTD. OTD to me means the price of the vehicle plus tax title license. We pay here in Illinois 6.25% sales tax plus license and registration. We also typically pay a dealer documentation fee of around $175. Your methods may vary.

I hear that and agree , my numbers would be 10% off MSRP which is $29,232 + $300 tags and title + $1,250 tax equals $30,782 OTD . Our numbers are kinda close .

Our otd numbers only differ due to tax title license #'s. I was basing my numbers on what I would have to pay if I bought his truck in my state. 10% off MSRP is what I go by as a good rule of thumb. I got my Camry for 10% off MSRP and my OR for 10.5% off MSRP.

    Just a driver mod.
Don't call him back. Wait til he calls you and let him know it's too much. Dealers have ways to swing numbers around also helps if you look around at other dealerships.

My 2018 TRD OR was $34,983 + tax.

Not all that much more than the quote OP got on his SR.

You going to get so much misinformation in the responses... bottom line, 32.5K down to 28.2K is a reasonable and “good” reduction. Dealer processing... no need to pay anything for that (it’s sales profit); freight is a must pay (should be on factory sticker); tax is a must pay; TTL should be less, but is based on state... make them break it down to fees required by law to pay. Good news, I didn’t see any BS dealer sticker markup in the quote..! I’d pay $31K OTD... if the dealer refuses, just tell him you’ll be back when the 2020’s come out.

that truck should be 29,500 ALL IN, tell this guy to pound sand. There's nothing good about that deal.

take this and send it out to 20 other dealers and let em fight over you.

Montana has no sales tax. Your deal is not too far off.

    I paid $32k out the door in Sept 2016 for a 2017 Taco Sr 4x4 V6 DCSB.

The price doesn't seem too bad. Don't act interested- or they won't budge. They want to sell that truck.

Tell them if you are a Costco member and if they do the Costco car price. It may be lower.
