2nd this. I put aftermarket evap charcoal canister from rock auto on it and it was working when tested but not purging enough vapour. Replaced it with a new one and it worked fine. Prob just a defective part.

When I had the charcoal canister replaced the truck was throwing a code. There’s no code now. Either way I just dropped it off at the mechanic and he’s going to mess with it again tomorrow.

Solved-it was the charcoal canister. Ordered a new canister from the dealership and had it installed. Starts right up after fueling now. Lesson learned-going forward will use oem parts.

So I'm experiencing this symptom with a 420 code, but no EVAP codes. Something is killing my cat(s) and before replacing one or both I'd like to source the problem.

My first Q is if there is indeed a problem with the cannister what code would it throw? Is there a specific code for the cannister or is it a generic EVAP code telling you to "go fish" in the EVAP direction?

If a 2.7 with 315,000 miles is experiencing some rough idling and a 420 code where do I start? The manifold has been cleaned in the recent past and the air intake sensor is clean. Am I just a high mileage victim?

I don’t recall the code my Tacoma was throwing in 2018 when I had the original canister replaced but I know it wasn’t 420. I’m familiar with 420 from when I owned a Subaru Forester. Recently the Tacoma wasn’t throwing any codes or cel.
