I've been having an intermittent hard starting issue with my 2007. Started maybe 2 years ago, happened 1-2x, but recently got a lot worse.

Hard start when truck is warm or cold, but seems completely sporadic. 95% of the time it starts quickly (within ~1 second of cranking). When it happens, engine turns over and over but doesn't "catch". Battery is fresh. Otherwise truck has been running fine.

Just got a call from my local dealer where I took it for service: they think it might be the aftermarket chipped key that I've been using since 2011, I do have my original Toyota key which they will try. I'm hoping that's all that it is. I wonder if that's something they can check in the computer codes? I found something in this thread about key copies that the truck will turn over & over but won't catch if the chip is not working: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/making-a-copy-of-my-key.99223/

Anyway, just thought I would share the outcome, waiting...
