Did replacing the fuel injector solve your starting issues. I'm having the same starting issues with my 2016 Tacoma.

Yes, it's been about five months and the problem has not reappeared.
The problem took four trips to the dealer before it was resolved. The dealer was working with the Toyota Tech Line, so I assume the issue and its solution must be in a Tech Line database. Before replacing the injector, they replaced the Crankshaft position sensor which didn't change anything. The dealer also did an overnight fuel pressure test which passed with no issue.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Just got my truck back from the dealer and they can not duplicate the starting issue. Can you send me the number of your dealer and i will call them?
The crankshaft positioning sensor has been replaced. The dash cluster has been replaced for the trip A and B resetting to 0 and the transmission TSB for the shifting problem was performed. My 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport, Auto. has been at the Toyota Dealership 51 days...

If your dealer can't duplicate the issue, you most likely will have to give them something to justify looking further. I recorded all my starts on phone video and brought those showing the hard starts to the dealer. The service writer was prepared to look at them but suggested we wait until the tech started my truck. Luckily, the problem showed itself to the tech and they didn't need to look at the video. FYI, my dealer is Kari Toyota in Superior Wisconsin, 1-800-236-4429. The R/O Number for the injector replacement work done on 4/28/17 is 6171679/1. It is my understanding from talking to the service writer that a scan tool showed the specs for the problem injector reading slightly off which was enough to justify replacing it. They scheduled 4.5 hours for the replacement, so it was not an easy job. The dealer worked with Toyota Tech Line through the whole process of finding a solution.
