    I feel your pain!
Just get a big hand held magnifying loop and problem solved. I change mine every 5K so for me its almost impossible to read it right after changing it, so I don't even go there.

I put 6 qts and call it a day till the next change.

You should be able to see it in about a week from now when its had a chance to get dirty though

    Cheers!

Yeah I thought that too but then Honda has some damn good engineers working for them also. There Indy car power plants seem to win a hell of allot of races each year. I too was concerned about a little 1.5 turbo engine holding up throughout the years in the CR-V. I trust Honda knows what they are doing.

At least the transmission don't drop a gear going up and down hills. Looking forward for mid February to get here.

I feel better after reading this thread. Guess I need to leave the dipatick out for a bit and rough it up.

I had this problem too. My dipstick read way above the top dot. Used 120 grit off my belt sander since that's all I had and it worked perfect. Thanks guys! Awesome!

I crosshatched mine with an o-ring pick--xxxxx. Reads fine now. Stupid Toyota. Checking oil must be new tech or something.

If the dip stick tube isn't too crazy, you could probably mimic the BMW design that keeps the "measuring surface" of the dip stick from rubbing on the tube (bulges above and below). If it's really bendy, this probably won't work.

Had the same idea although I used a file to make the cross hatch.

I had the end of the dipstick sandblasted just about a inch above the full mark when I had my 2016 Tacoma SR5. It felt rough when you would slide it in and out of the tube. I got worried it would rub a hole in it so I bought a new one and got rid of the sandblasted one.

Wow. I'm new to working on cars and I was starting to think I just wasn't cut out for it after trying to read my tacomas oil. I'm glad I found this. I'm going to check it in the morning.

    1. Drain oil
    2. Change oil filter
    3. Add 6.1 qts 0w20
    4. Shut hood
    5. Repeat at next service

IMHO a good technician always verifies that the changes they made are functional and correct. In other words, they check the dipstick after changing the oil to verify the level is correct.

No one ever complains about the length of their dipstick.
