hard to start

    hello
    for the last year my 1996 has intermittently been hard to start. not temperature related as it has happened at various times. ie, parked overnight, cold weather, hot summer day, 5 min after shut down etc etc. it has had a tuneup, filters, spark plugs, cap & rotor. it has become very annoying. help me please. anyone experienced this issue? any suggesstions. thanks in advance

    Injectors.

    Since you say it's intermittent I would suspect an electrical issue. Mechanical failures like injectors are pretty much constant.

    I would get one of these ignition tester to stick on the next time it's failing to see if you are getting a good spark.

    Iam gonna put money on the fuel pressure reg is faulty and not keeping pressur in the rail when the engine is turned off

    I had this happen to me a couple of years ago. I drove me nuts and was embarrasing at times trying to start my truck. I talk to several mechanics and they couldn't help. Finally I figured out my problem and it was the ground wire that connects to the body under the hood that wasn't getting good contact. I replaced that and it cured my problem.

    At least it something else you could check thats easy and can rule out another possibly.

    i will definitely check the ground connection. as an update, strangely and it may be just coincidence, but i put some midgrade gas and fuel injector cleaner in the tank and have not had one no start incident. weird i know. we'll see how it goes
