Just wondering if anyone has installed a hard style tonneau cover on their 3rd gen? If so, what brand and your thoughts?

I've only shopped a little bit, and there do seem to be a few options. I would think low profile would be the best choice, as seeing out the rear window thru the rearview mirror is a pretty tight fit already, and I don't really want to limit that much more by adding inches upwards on the bed.

Photos if you have them please, and manufacturer.

I have the factory one, it works well for what it is. Only drawback for me is it doesn't flip up when fully open, so it can be a pain getting stuff that's all the way to the front of the bed. I wouldn't care if I couldn't pin it up while driving, but man I wish it flipped up to load/unload. When fully closed you can't open it if the tailgate is locked either.

I don't like the soft ones, too easy for people to slice open and steal stuff.

Didn't know there was a factory hard cover. I hear ya on opening. I worked out of a truck a year or so back, that had lifts at all four corners of the cover, so the whole thing raised, and that is where I am headed (eventually).

It was a great sun shade, and I imagine a great rain cover for a small grill in the bed (I travel a lot and cook out at the motels).

Then maybe try looking at the BAK MX4 which is a hard folding cover, or the BAK Revolver X4 which is a hard rolling cover. Both are very low profile, but the only drawback IMO, is that it relocates the accessory rails down.

    Revolver X4: https://bakflip.com/shop-bak/bak-re...tU5ztqJ2jH_KCAgg2KVdp8dVHPkm0GV4aAnSREALw_wcB

    MX4: https://bakflip.com/bakflip-mx4-tonneau-cover.html

There are always deals to be had on tonneau covers. AutoAnything is a good place to shop for covers, and if you send @eccracer104 a PM; he may be able to hook you up with a decent deal

Thanks. Since I'm looking at being able to fully raise the cover, I'm looking at hard covers only. Not only for the raising, but also for security.

Does he also deal in hard covers?

    Thanks Scott! :fistbump:

Yeah I can help with hard covers
Both the models @scottsglock29 linked you to are hard aluminum panel covers. The folding version will fold all the way up and vertical for full bed access, and the rolling one rolls up and can be secured up front for nearly full bed access as well.

I assume you are looking for a 1 piece cover, most likely fiberglass or other synthetic, plastic-like material.

Undercover is the lowest profile cover I've seen. There is a few members here with them, black standard, and smooth color matched. That would be my #1 choice. Around $1500.00 color matched.

Am also curious as to pros vs cons of ABS vs Fiberglass.

The ABS less chance of cracking/chipping and weighs less. There is a picture of a Elite LX. Search Undercover Elite LX on Calvary Blue. Also can be removed by yourself., won't need another person to help you.

Diamondback SE. It’s not flat, but I can see just fine (and I’m short at 5’4”). Also provides the versatility of opening from either direction, and easy removal.
