Hes going to be buried at my farm next to his best friend KC who passed a few years ago. He will be able to run thru the fields and chase everything that moves. As I am reading all of these messages I started to think back on his life and the things he has done. I will never forget when he was a puppy, he was about the size of my hand. When I would go to school he would go in the cage. When I would get home he would be out. We never could figure out how that little guy would get out. We decided to tie his cage shut with rope thinking maybe he figured out how to get the latch open. The next day, I came home from school and he was out with all the rope pulled off the cage. Not one single piece of the rope was chewed on. It was almost like he took the knot out and opened the cage. We did this about 3 different times and still that same result. He was a little shit head, but I wouldn't change it for anything. Still to this day we never figured out how he managed to open his cage. After that we pushed the cage against the wall so the door would open. That was the only way we could keep the little guy in there. That was one of about a thousand things that he has done in his life that I will never forget. Anyways enough reminiscing, I thank everyone for there prays and kind words. 2maro is going to be a hard day.

Yup that reminds me of when my dog was about 5 years old I would get home from school and there would be anywhere between 2-5 pheasants running around in my house, she would always catch any kind of bird she could and bring them into the house alive.

For a couple nights after we put our dog down I would wake up in the middle of the night from her barking to go to the batrhroom, I would wake up go to the living room and nothing was there then I remembered she was gone and I was just hearing things...by far the hardest thing ive ever gone through...just know that you gave him the best life he could live, sounds like he is a very lucky and loved dog.

Sorry for what your going thru, I put down my 8 year old german shepherd, samson, back in february and know exactly how you feel. Your doing the right thing though for sure. Look up Rudyard Kipling, Four-feet, my girlfriend gave me this and it really made me feel better, actually ill post it for ya......

    Four-Feet

I have done mostly what most men do,
    And pushed it out of my mind;
But I can't forget, if I wanted to,
    Four-Feet trotting behind.

Day after day, the whole day through --
    Wherever my road inclined --
Four-feet said, "I am coming with you!"
    And trotted along behind.

Now I must go by some other round, --
Which I shall never find --
Somewhere that does not carry the sound
    Of Four-Feet trotting behind.

    Rudyard Kipling

Went to the Vet this morning and they said he probably had kidney failure and offered to do test. I declined the test as I knew his time was up. We said our good byes and now he is in a better place. Thank you all for you comments, they have been appriciated!

You'll always have those memories of a wonderful 16 years.

I've lost my first cat as a child 14 years ago and I always remember him. I watched him suffer for a few days and watching him pass was one of the hardest things to do. It was the best thing, however the hardest thing.

I then lost my first dog 4 years ago and that was real hard.

I have 2 dogs now and I can't imagine losing them but its life and you learn to remember the good times. They'll always love you and love the time you've both shared.
