Haha hahaha. Yeah I think you are right, as the motor is just windings. It does spin if I apply 12v directly to the motor leads

You know, from seeing all the corrosion and crap in those ADD actuators, I wonder if people should be relocating their breather lines higher up or maybe put one of those bellows things on there so it won't be sucking in contaminates through the vent.

I don't think it's the height of the breather that is the problem, they come up by the brake booster top of engine. It's the the hose either falls off or the nipple breaks off, or the sealant is shit and gets in there anyways

Yeah, but the breather is still going to suck in humid air when the actuator cools down, so with the bellows thing on it it'd be a closed system. As long as it was sealed good, it might make it work for longer. But, yeah, it'd work best if it wasn't there at all. Then you could weld up the spider gears and have a cheap CV-popping locker up front like me.

Okay, worst case, I run the crappy Autobone CV and end up having to shell out for one of these...

That's not terrible, but it'd be nice to find someone that had one laying around and wanted to unload it. :D

Lee, what all actually broke in the lock out hub? You may want to see if you can get some 300M gears for your's and rebuild them. If the face broke and they're the same as a solid axle ( which I think that part is) I may have a replacment you can have. The gut's won't work though.

Haha, I think the hub body might be salvageable. Pretty much everything else came out in pieces. I haven't really looked too closely at the bits to see if it can be put back together or if it's all a right off. I know the snap rings and the bronze bushing-looking thing are all pretty mangled but the sliding gear might be salvageable, maybe. But with my luck, probably not.

Haha, I was kinda hoping you still had your IFS lockouts. I thought maybe those would work, but I'm not sure.

I actually used my IFS hubs (with Longfield 300m conversion gears) on my solid axle. The ones that came with the 83 axle were beat to shit, but the faces and selectors are fine.

If the whole inside is destroyed you're going to need a whole new hub. I don't see anyone that makes good replacement gears for the IFS hubs. Junkyard may be your best bet.

k, well, hmmm...I'd definitely need a new selector ring face. The selector dial looks like it's toast as well, and hopefully it didn't break and let that stupid ball and spring detent escape, but I know I can get another one of them from Marlin Crawler. The hub body is probably salvageable, so I'd just need to get another axle gear, bushing, and maybe the sliding gear although it doesn't appear to be damaged that I can tell.

Car-parts.com is an online salvage yard search. I found a used 4x4 non-automatic disconnect hub for 40 bucks. Bet they would ship it too.

    Nice!

There is one thing that concerns me though. I'm pretty sure when I pull the CV I'm going to find the needle bearings in the wheel hub where the stub axle rides are going to be pretty much obliterated. I dunno if they can be replaced or if I'm gonna have to get a whole new wheel hub, which would majorly suck, especially since that's the side with the bearings I replaced a couple years ago.

Pretty sure it was a Hilux, not a Taco. His name was Robert. Awesome little rig, although you really didn't want to be behind him, haha. Every time he went up a steep hill, that thing would smoke like a skeeta-fogger.

Robert and Todd did the Rollercoaster. Made it look easy to the chagrin of a bunch of Jeepers that struggled on it. I tried it but I had already broken my front end so I was denied. Really wish I had been 100% so I could have given it a real effort.

Yes it was Lee. When we got there, we were a little worried about only having 98 acres to play on, but it was awesome and we didn't even go down every trail. We tried to meet the guys at the area beyond Hammer Hill, but we could only get about 1/3 of the way up since we don't have 4wd. I'll definitely be going back up again. The open spaces and the laid back attitude of the owners made everything worth while. Beautiful place too and lots of obstacles. And...no FWC to pull me over for off trail violations! I hope to actually meet up with you guys next time and keep up the best I can. Nice seeing you all out there.
