I’m new to doing my own “mods” or however you want to describe adding a dashcam to a vechicle. I previously bought my dashcams and let BestBuy install them. Well, finally watched a ton of YouTube videos and installed one in my wife’s 2018 Civic Si, now I’m feeling confident I can do it in my 2024 Tacoma.

Not anymore at least. I have the Toyota dashcam already, it came with the truck when I bought it without the option to remove it. Anyway, I have a Thinkware F200 Pro I want to hardwire for front and rear cameras with parking mode. Since the OEM is already there, I’d prefer to just add the Thinkware and have two front facing cameras. The fuse box under the glove box is too tight of clearance to use an add-a-circuit like I did for my wife’s Civic. I’ve read some forums people are using the port for the OEM dash cam - but there is no parking mode for this?

Do I have any options? Or should I take this to BestBuy to have them install my Thinkware - if they can?

I don’t understand, what kind of plug would allow me to pigtail off this kind of connection and also have parking mode?

Six-bits says that an installer at BestBuy has never seen the inside of a 2024 Tacoma. Not the answer you're looking for.

    Spoon feeding here now.
The connectors required and the info (schematic) shows fused battery and fused ignition source and chassis ground. There's even a picture where the connector is.
For those with a bit more skill, the parts can be purchased and assembled. With a little skill, one could buy 2 DONGAR's and de-pin the wire and terminals to complete the required T harness.

    Something like so:

Or just purchase some posi-taps and tap into the wires.

I thought the oem had a parking feature that actived when it picked up vibration. Mine records with the engine is off and I am working under the hood.

Oh, yeah, I’m not familiar with anything like that. This is quite literally the first time I’m touching anything electrical. Doing the add-a-circuits for the Civic was more than I’ve ever done before. Getting into changing pins and things, looking at the circuit diagram is more than Im knowledgeable on. I follow what you’re saying though, not sure if I’m comfortable doing something like that.
My Thinkware hardwire kit has three wires. The ground, a red wire labeled accessory, and a yellow labeled for battery. I don’t know how I translate that to the dongars. I’m sorry

    Get posi-taps.
    Follow their instructions on use.
    Use last diagram to tap:
IGN (wire #2) to Red Accessory
Battery (wire #1) to Yellow wire
    Ground (wire #4) to ground
