    Hello.
Im replacing my blown motor with another from a wrecking yard. When I pulled the motor I noticed that the wiring harnesses are different.
My truck is a manual and I'm assuming the motor I bought came from a automatic.
Can I use this new wiring harness or will it not be compatible?

My truck is a manual 1998
    Came from a 1997 4Runner

It is much easier to swap in your Your Tacoma Harness .

You could make the 4Runner Harness work but you need the 4Runner ECM then you need to repin the cab harness the 4th ECM plug . Plus do some work that the ecm is not looking for the auto trans.

All the hard electrical work for a engine swap for the same engine.

Why would you need to swap the harness? Why can't you change the engine by itself? 5vz is 5vz across the board, might have a few different vacuum variations but that shouldn't matter. Keep what you need from you engine and trash what you don't need from the other motor

I think the OP was trying to just save the work and time of pulling the 4Runner harness and the sensors and installing the Tacoma harness and sensors from the pulled engine.

Without both EWD`s to compare pin outs it can be impossible to know what sensors are pinned the same.

    Thank you.
Yes, I was hoping to save some time by using the harness that was already on the new motor. But swapping the harness will also give me a chance to fix the oil leak from the valve covers.
