My plan is to wire up a "master" switch that will need to be turned on before the locker switches will be powered. I may also wire it so that the front switch won't be powered until the rear switch is on that way I will only be able to use the front when the rear is locked. My biggest concern with e-lockers is engaging them when I don't want/need them on, hence the master switch.

@Sna I wish I could contribute to the thread more, however I’m still in the baby stages of getting my truck up to par with the guys I roll with. I made some rookie mistakes early on, making some in my opinion poor purchasing decisions, and still recovering from them. My buddy has the Harrop e-lockers Installed on both front and rear on his 70 series imported Land Cruiser, and has nothing but good things to say about them. Furthermore I just spoke with Ward Harris of Cruiser Brothers and he was very helpful in answering some questions I had regarding part numbers and what not. I made the decision that when the time and finances allow, I will definitely be going this route. As far a re-gearing the truck, a made an impulse buy on a set of Nitro 4.88’s that are just sitting on my desk, with no install kit, or shop in the middle of nowhere Missouri to get them installed.

Like you mentioned, I’d look into having the crew at East Coast Gear Supply handle the re-gearing for you along with the locker installation if that’s a job that’s out of your comfort zone. It’s definitely out of my area for sure. By most accounts I hear great thing about them, and a route I should have went to begin with. I’m still new to the scene, so definitely learning as I go, and having fun along the way. Hopefully in the future I could give more feedback regarding the Harrop locker.

We just put one in a 6 spd truck and the customer loves it no complaints. Great product and a 3 year warranty.

I love mine, single button press to go up things. If you don't have a local shop that knows what they are doing with these ECGS is the best option.

It is a great investment. The simplicity of the wiring, stronger carrier, and quick actuation make it a great choice in my opinion. The ability to run a selectable locker without having to worry about leaking air lines/seals, gear oil running up into airline, and of course (in the off-chance it does happen) an air compressor failure...make this a great option. I have been running this set up for a year now with no issues and plenty of wheeling trips. Not trying to bash on air lockers, I'm sure there are plenty who have yet to face any issues however, my mindset was on identifying what could potentially fail on the trail and being proactive about it. The e-locker seemed like a much more simple option, with fewer components that could potentially fail. Hope this helps!

I can't say anything different from the rest. Its been a great investment! @ECGS did a great job with my gears and no issues here. Stoked for ya!
Send your gears to @ECGS with the harrop. They will fix it all up for you then all you have to do is swap.

Amen to Harrops. So annoying listening to a compressor every couple minutes and blown air lines are the worst. Been running mine in the rear for a couple years with 4.56 gears. Yellow wire mod done (so I have poor man lockers up front, using my saved cash for extra brake pads-ha), but no issues to date. Used a push button/back lit switch.

I have done the yellow wire mod so once the lockers are done I'll need to reverse that when I'm wiring things up.

New to all of this. I understand the rear locker. But does A-Trac almost work as good as a front locker with less chance of damage to the vehicle? For those of you that have A-trak can you have both in the front only using one of them when needed? What is the yellow wire mod?

So if you have an Elocker already and ATRAC you don’t have to do a yellow wire mod. I have an older gen2 SR5 that did not come with ATRAC. But I did a mod that allows me to have traction control in 4lo know as the YWM. The truck senses which tires are slipping and applies braking to that wheel to get the power transferred to the tire with traction. Acting like a locker in a sense. Only wear and tear over extended use is of course the brake pads. I wouldn’t sweat a front locker if you have a rear one and ATRAC Unless you’re doing some serious wheeling, rutted roads or rocks.

I just finished up regearing to 4.56. I picked up assembled thirds/clamshell from ECGS and had them install a Harrop in the front. I leave the gear install for the Pros but tackling it on your rig takes time but not too bad in the end. I had not done it before so it did take longer than I expected but now I am pretty comfortable with doing it. I did both front and rear solo.

I just need to test the locker now. I have it wired up to my switch pro which is pretty simple (given it works =) )

@Sna ,,, DOOO IT!! Really glad I went that direction,, only thing I need to do is fab a guard/cover plate for the bottom 2 switches on my @switch-pros ,, so I do not lock one by accident ( not that I have actually done that ;-). )[/QUOTE]

Did you have to do anything special for wiring up to your switch pro or was it essentially just running the Harrop wires directly to the switch Pro? Thats what I figured since you do not need relays etc with the switch pro. I have not had a chance to test it yet so was curious in case it doesn't engage. press of a button its hard to tell since its quiet.

depends if you get it from ECGS or direct. its 1400 from ECGS which includes install in the clamshell. which is why its slightly more than buying separate. I have the Harrop in the front that I did with a regear. My only issue now is I have not been able to get it to engage. I have it hooked up to a switch pro now. I am going to try and hook up the regular switch and see if that is the issue.

ECGS said it could be the connection but so far have not found any issue. They suggested a direct crimp instead of the connector which could have been damaged (its not). Truck drives fine but locker has not engaged yet so can't say much after that. ECGS says they test them and I am sure Harrop does too so something is off on the install.

complete 3rd, clamshell and harrop for the front came out to about 2900 in the end.

Sure thing, I hope to figure it out soon. Mostly time which has prevented me from getting out there.
