Harsh shift to drive help

Anyone have any ideas? When I shift into drive occasionally I get a period where the truck doesn't shift but will shift into drive if I go to park and then drive also will slam into gear but I don't let it. Transmission control computer issue? Fluid levels are perfect no leaks. New filter only a few hundred miles and new fluid only about 50 miles on the fluid. Anyone have any ideas that may be the issue?

 

Was it ok before someone "worked on it" ???

Yeah from my memory.

 

Sounds like you had a transmission flush and cleaned out the friction particles that were helping it shift properly. Bummer.

 

no it was just a drain and fill and filter.

 

Could be low on fluid.

 

You say the fluid levels are perfect.

I hope when you check it again (hot, in park, running IIRC) you find you are wrong.

 

Yeah that's what I was getting at also, checking the level on an automatic transmission has to be done a specific way or you will get inaccurate readings.

 

Was the no upshift happening before you changed the fluid ? Also what transmission do you have ? the 4 speed or the 5 speed ?

How do you check fluid level? I think the shop that did it doesn't know how to check correctly... No dip stick...
