    Good morning, First Gen folks,

So my Tacoma has the frame rust crud.

I'm looking to have several Safe-T-Cap kits installed. Since I live in Virginia, Advanced Automotive in Chantilly, VA is the closest installer listed on the Safe-T-Cap website.

Has anybody used them for Safe-T-Cap installation/frame repair? If so, were you satisfied with the work?

I have a second gen Taco however since the Safe-T-Cap kits for the 2nd gen trucks were just released a few weeks ago, I figure you 1st gen folks would be more likely to have Safe-T-Cap experience...

This is an expensive and critical job and I want to make sure it gets done right...

Your the final judge when you pick up the Truck if your inspection sees any thing you don`t like get it sorted before the invoice gets paid.

This has to be crazy expensive last Quote I did was $3000.00 plus not to many choose to have a full time shop do the work.

I don`t know if things changed during the China Flu but Safety Cap was pretty strict with the vendors .

Just because they are an approved Vendor they might have only done one or two vehicles ask the vendor to see pictures of past trucks before and after.

You might want to post in the local area forum to attract local members to that area.

    Good Luck!!

I cant speak for that shop in particular, but I was happy with the quality of the safety caps I installed on my 1st gen. As it was said above I would have them send you pictures of the work they have completed as well as a cost. It takes a good amount of time to install and do it correctly. Good luck!

Just installed a set of caps and plates from safe t cap. On a 00’ Tacoma ext cab. The products are awesome, and they fit really well.

My mechanic is a licensed welder and he is the local frame guy. My cost for labor was south of $500.00. That’s him taking the bed off, knocking off all the rust and welding the caps and plates in. He’s done multiple trucks for me now and no issues.
