Has anyone actually put 33s on their truck?

    Edit for clarity.
33s are a ton cheeper where I live, but are pretty wide. Has anyone run them on a third gen, and if you have how do they run? I have 2.5 coil overs and 4.5” backspacing.

before everyone chimes in that they run 33/34s just fine A 285/75r/16 may be around 33” in diameter, but it ain’t a ‘33 tire’. I guess I just chalk it up to the fact that must Tacoma owners (all gens) aren’t big off-roaders.

A 33 is a 33/12.5r/x it’s the exact same size if your wheel is 20”-15”. Theses are available in all the popular truck tires. Has anyone actually run these on the third gen? They have about 1-1.5” of extra poke because they are 12.5 inches wide.

    285/75r17 is a 34

33x12.5 is a wide tire that requires more cutting. Tacoma’s do better with a taller, narrow tire like 285.

    285/75/17 is 33.8”
Most off-roaders would prefer 33.8” over an exact 33”

I'm guessing he meant 285/75R16 which is something like 32.8.

 Or maybe because someone would rather say “I have 33s” than “I have 32.62947s” because they know it doesn’t actually matter.

Why would anyone want a 12" wide tire on a Tacoma? They look stupid on full size trucks. On a Taco they'd be full retarded.
Maybe just chalk it up to the fact that you don't need your tires poking out like you're in Hawaii to go off-road.

If that ruffles your feathers wait until you learn that almost all 35" tires are less than 35"....even the ones that have a industry specced size of 35/12.5R17.

Haha! I’m asking because 33, 34, 35s are about $80 less a tire here in the same brand because they sell them a ton more.

No wonder the first two gen guys poke you all the time.
